Who is your favorite author to come out of Sonoma County?
Probably the most famous author to call Sonoma County home was Jack London. His books Call of the Wild and White Fang are often required reading in schools all over. His books have been translated into as many as 70 languages. A trip to the Jack London State park is worth a trip to enjoy his home & learn about his life.
Currently our own Guy Fieri is making quite a splash nationwide. His many cookbooks, zany style & delicious restaurant, Tex Wasabi's is definitely worth talking about!
If you're looking for some new mysteries, try out Marcia Muller & Bill Pronzini. The married couple write mysteries individually & together. Muller is more well know but Pronzini is highly regarded, both having received over 10 awards for various books.
Megan McDonald, author of the beloved kid's series, Judy Moody currently lives in Sebastopol.
A favorite book of mine, FUP, by Jim Dodge is a sweet, inspirational story of a duck on the Russian River.
Try out a book by a local author, or read something set in locally. It can help you see the area from a different perspective. We have a large shelf full of many lesser known local authors for you to try!
