Let’s be proud! June is the official Pride month of the year and AHCT celebrates it! We are going to be present in numerous events across the state and we want to invite you. Please review our outreach section for details about each event.
In addition, this year we will observe Juneteenth National Independence Day, the newest federal holiday in the United States to honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Our office and call center will be closed on Monday, June 20 in recognition of Juneteenth.

The Broker Spotlight

In this edition we are featuring one of the first agents that joined AHCT, Stephen Hunt
Stephen started in insurance in 1996, and in 2000 he went independent, starting “The Hunt Agency Inc” in Avon, CT. His focus has been individual and small group Medical and Medicare products from several major companies. In 2008, The Hunt Agency was purchased by Pawson Associates Inc, located at 31 Business Park Drive in Branford, CT, giving him multiple locations to work from and allowing his clients greater access to other insurance products they offer as Property and Casualty agents. Pawson Insurance has joined Risk Strategies Co in October of 2021 as a member independent retail insurance agency.
From its onset in 2014, Stephen has represented individual and small group plans offered through Access Health CT, and looks forward to doing so in the future. Stephen proudly served in the US Army from 1987 to 1991, and the Connecticut National Guard from 1991 to 1995. He has a BA from Central Connecticut State University.

Fun fact: "There are 169 incorporated towns in CT, and I have recorded a timed road race in each one. It’s a great way to see the whole state close up!"

  • Residents can enroll in the Covered Connecticut Program beyond June 30, 2022. We will share more information soon about the new opportunity to enroll after July 1.
  • Public Health Emergency declaration was extended but could end this summer. Encourage your clients to start updating their household information if anything has changed:
    • HUSKY A, B and D Members can make updates at or by calling 1-855-805-4325.
    • HUSKY C Members can make updates at or by calling 1-855-626-6632.

Reminders for CACs

  • Reporting changes on your client’s application: 
    • Please make sure to enter the information for ALL family members in the household, even if they are not applying for coverage. It is very important to be eligible for APTCs (Advanced Premium Tax Credits) that everyone on the application provides their personal information like SSN, Citizenship and Tax Status, etc.
    • Reporting Monthly Income, please answer the household monthly income question as “NO” to enter the specific number for each household member. This will prevent the cancellation of the QHP (Qualifying health Plan) and enrollment into Medicaid. If you don’t enter a number in this section, AHCT system will assume that the family currently does not have any income and as a result it will enroll the entire household in Medicaid. 
  • If you need to speak with the CAC Support Department for any inquiries related to your clients or technical problems, please contact us.
  • We currently have a high volume of requests from CACs, and we are working diligently to resolve them as quickly as possible. We understand that your request is important. Please avoid sending repetitive emails about the same case/client because it creates confusion with our staff and delays in the resolution process.
  • We encourage you to identify the level of the escalation on the subject line like: Priority 1 (urgent medical) and Priority 2 (not urgent). Urgent cases are defined as: 1) Client coverage has terminated 2) Client has Urgent medical needs.
