Call Center Holiday Hours: Summer 2018
Our normal call center hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm

•    Monday, May 28: Memorial Day
•    Wednesday, July 4: Independence Day

Did You Miss Prescription Drug Take Back Day?
People who abuse controlled prescription drugs often get them from the home medicine cabinets of family and friends.  If you have unwanted, unused or expired prescription medications in your home, you can turn them in safely at a US Drug Enforcement Administration’s Take Back Day event.  In case you missed Drug Take Back Day, you can Click Here to find public disposal locations near you throughout the year.
The US Environmental Protection Agency says never flush expired or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs down the toilet or drain unless the label or accompanying patient information specifically instructs you to do so.  Flushing medications lets them leach into the ground and groundwater, rivers and streams, and wastewater treatment systems, ultimately into our drinking water sources.  Water treatment plants are generally not equipped to routinely remove medicines.  Click Here to Learn More
May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month… and National Bike Month Too!
Access Health CT supports the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition in honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.  During May, we challenge all adults to get 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
Did you know that regular physical activity increases your chances of living a longer, healthier life?  It also reduces your risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, and some types of cancer.

The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that adults:
  • Aim for 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week.  Moderate activity includes things like walking fast, dancing, swimming, and raking leaves.
  • Do muscle-strengthening activities – like lifting weights or using exercise bands – at least 2 days a week.

Physical activity is for everyone.  No matter what shape you are in, you can find activities that work for you. Together, we can rise to the challenge and get more active during the month of May!
Quick Tips for Being More Active:
  • Choose the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
  • Park your car as far away as possible so you have to walk a longer distance from your destination.  Even better, walk or cycle to run errands in your community.
  • Do you have children or relatives who play sports? Walk up and down the field while watching the game!
  • Get off the bus (or subway) one stop early and walk the rest of the way.
