Twenty year-old Gloria is a first—the first in her family to ever attend college. From a family of five siblings whose mother died when she was young, Gloria has the chance for a new and richer life. She is getting a college degree to help people in her village develop the means to rise out of the poverty of generations.
Our Guatemalan partner organization, Amigos de Santa Cruz, supports Gloria’s commitment and is nurturing her drive to make a difference. Her participation in an Amigos youth leadership program demonstrated such determination that Gloria was able to land a job as an administrative assistant. While juggling work with college studies is a challenge, Gloria is excited by having the chance to learn and work to better her community. Funding support from Chances for Children International
makes her university education possible.
