Aloha and Mahalo Tony Borge!

Tony Borge receiving a honorary letter from DBEDT Director Mike McCartney

The SBRRB members and DBEDT staff extend to Tony Borge best wishes and a fond farewell!  After eight years as a member, including four years as the board’s chairperson, Tony’s last day effective June 30th, has come to an end.

Tony is the general manager of RMA Sales.  During his tenor on the SBRRB, his strong commitment to this board and the small business community have helped to encourage Hawaii business organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii to become involved in the beginning stages of the rule-making process.

In addition, under Tony’s leadership the SBRRB continues to work closely with state and county agencies by encouraging them to engage small business stakeholders early-on in the rule-drafting/amendment process instead of at the very end (after the public hearings) because by then, it is too late!

2019 Hawaii Small Businesses
on the Hill - Policy Summit
June 11th and June 12th

On June 11th and 12th, SBRRB ex officio board member, Mr. Mark Ritchie, attended “Hawaii on the Hill Summit” in Washington D.C., sponsored, in part, by the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii.  The Summit is an opportunity to eat local Hawaiian delicacies by experiencing “Taste of Hawaii on the Hill,” to explain how Hawaii plays a part in the nation’s economy, and to discuss various issues where Hawaii businesses may benefit from federal government assistance.
“The primary purpose of Hawaii on the Hill is to introduce Hawaii businesses to the Nation’s Capital and gain more influence.  Secondly, it is a way for Hawaii companies to learn about the regulatory and policy environments, and thirdly, it is an opportunity for Hawaii companies to arrange his/her own meetings to partner and find local distributors,” said Mr. Ritchie who thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and found the event to be a huge success.
