Looking for Color
Welcome New Subscribers!
I drove to my sister's house in Michigan this morning. It is getting toward the time of the year that I thought maybe I'd see some of the trees changing color. I saw one red tree. I'm not sure why that one was red, while none of the trees around it seem to know what season of the year is approaching, but that was it - one red tree.
Some years we've been able to see a little bit of fall color - usually on our way to visit family in Michigan. We've never been on a dedicated color tour - have you? It might be interesting to try it sometime.
I grew up on a farm.  Fall was, and still is, a hugely busy time of the year.  For years, my dad and brother have worked from morning to night - the harvesting needs to be done now. My dad is supposed to be retired now, but he still spends time helping on the farm. There is no time for a color tour.
Still, maybe we should try it sometime.  My husband is not a farmer, so we should be abe to work it out. I'll let you know if we do.  In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy the weekend at my sister's house, catch up on some knitting, and look for more trees on my drive home.

Enjoy the changing seasons where you live. Take a break to read the posts this week. Share the newsletter with your family and friends! If you are reading your friend's newsletter, you can sign up for your own here.

"Our deep respect for the land and its harvest is the legacy of generations of farmers who put food on our tables, preserved our landscape, and inspired us with a powerful work ethic."

This Week's Post:

Amsterdam's Trams

I thought I’d take a break from writing about Paris, so this week’s post is about getting around Amsterdam.  Every European city seems to have their own unique public transportation system – London has the Tube, Paris has the Metro, Venice has the Vaporetti, and Amsterdam has the Trams.

Orientation

Looking at Amsterdam on a map, you will see that the city has four main canals, radiating from the center of the city.  If you come to Amsterdam by train, you will likely arrive at Amsterdam Centraal. If you fly into Schiphol Airport, you can also take the train to the central station...

Bringing Your Hobbies on Vacation

It is always difficult to decide what type of entertainment to bring along on a trip.  Should you bring books?  Movies?  Crafts, hobbies, or needlework?  What apps or games should you load onto your smart phone or tablet?

On the other hand, maybe you should leave all of this entertainment behind. After all, you are on vacation to get away from your routine; you are traveling to explore and enjoy a new environment.

While it is true that you often travel to see new horizons, there may be times when you want to relax with some familiar entertainment.  Some research and planning...
