So Different
Welcome New Subscribers!
Yes, I'm in Paris - and yes, Paris is different than home.  It's familiar though, because I've been here enough times in the past.  I'm staying on the same familiar street and eating at the same familiar cafes.
Thie is the first time, though that I am working while I'm in Paris - that's different.  I'm leading the tour I've been planning so long.  It is work, enjoyable, yes, but still work.  I'm also working on my posts and newsletter while I'm here. The clincher is that I didn't bring my computer.  I brought my iPad which works fine for almost everything - everything except for the newsletter.  The newsletter is set up differently on my iPad and it is very cumbersome to work on.  Luckily, ther is a computer in the lobby of the hotel so I sat down to use it for the newsletter.
Have you ever used a French computer?  Not only are all the commands in French - copier is copy, collier is paste - but some of the keys have been rearranged.  Q is a popular letter in French spelling, so the Q and A are switched around.  The M, Z and W are also in different places.  The qwerty keypad in an azerty keypad in French.  So different!  It's been fun typing the newsletter this week. Please forgive any mistakes.
Enjoy reading the posts this week. Feel free to share the newsletter with your family and friends! If you are reading your friend's newsletter, you can sign up for your own here.

The Advantages of Taking an Organized Tour

Hello from Paris!  If you are a regular reader, you know that I am getting ready to lead the first Ms. Mae Travels tour.  I flew to Paris a few days before the tours starts so I could make restaurant reservations and double check everything. You might also know that the idea for this tour started as my husband and I were about to join an organized tour from a different company.

The tour my husband and I enjoyed was my first experience on an organized tour.  Previous to that, I had traveled with family – we did all our own planning and organization.  While I appreciate both types of travel, there are definite advantages of each one.  Here are some things to think about:

Nice, More than Just a Beach

The French Riviera, also called the Côte d’Azur, or Azure Coast, extends from the Italian border to Saint-Tropez.  The beautiful coastline and blue water drew artists and writers to the area at the beginning of the 20th century.  After WWII, it became a popular tourist area and today is home to many celebrities.

Nice is the largest city in the Côte d’Azur.  The beach may be the main attraction, but there is much more to see in the area.

My daughter and I arrived in the late afternoon – or maybe it was early evening.  We were tired from the six-hour train ride...
