Welcome New Subscribers!
As I write this post, I'm sitting on my daughter's couch in Nashville, Tennessee. I drove down with another daughter to spend the weekend. We always find interesting things to do here - this time we are planning to go to a small local fiber fest. I'll tell you about it next week.
Last weekend my husband and I went on a color tour in Northern Michigan (see the post below).  While the color on the leaves was not as brilliant as we anticipated, the colors in the yarn shops were amazing.  We enjoyed several different activities and it was nice to get away.
It looks like next weekend I'll be in Minnesota on business - not sure if I'll be traveling alone or with my husband, but it should be a quick trip.
The following weekend, my daughter and I will be visiting my third daughter in Washington, DC.  She followed her dream, and moved there two weeks ago.  I've never been there - can you believe it? We managed to schedule our visit on election day, so we will be in our country's capital on this momentous occasion.
I don't usually travel this frequently and I think when I get back from DC, I'll feel like I need a vacation. Watch the newsletter for my travel reports.

Color Tour and Yarn Shops in Northern Michigan

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago in  the newsletter, that I had never really been on a dedicated color tour – well, now I have.  My husband and I spent the weekend in the northern half of the lower peninsula of Michigan, looking at beautiful fall colors and other scenery.  The colors hadn’t changed as much as we would have liked, but northern Michigan is beautiful – with lakes, peninsulas, and harbors – so we enjoyed the drive and the time away.

My husband grew up in Michigan.  His family often vacationed at Ludington State Park, so a stop there was high on the list.  We started out in Traverse City, drove around the Leelanau Peninsula, and then made our way down the Lake Michigan coast.  I couldn’t imagine a trip like this without visiting a few yarn shops...

No Room in the Inn?

“No room,” is what my daughter and I were told when we arrived in Paris.  It was late – after 10 p.m.  I had emailed the hostess of the bed and breakfast in the afternoon to remind her that we would be late, but we weren’t able to check our email to see if she replied.

I had found a good place on a popular B&B website.  The hostess said she had two rooms available.  We could have one room, but we would have to share the bathroom with the occupants of the other room.  What really attracted me, though, was the amazing price.  For 69 euros a night, we could share the bathroom.

We arrived by train from Lucerne, Switzerland, and found our way to the B&B even though it was dark by the time we exited the train station.  We had stayed...
