Summer!
Welcome New Subscribers!
Summer is here!   It's officially been here for over two weeks already.
Picnics, swimming, no school and vacations!  At least, those are the first things that come to mind when I think about summer. These words may not be relevant for everyone - they aren't exactly true for me. Things have changed over the years.
I've taken a class nearly every summer since 2010. (It's good that I like school). I'm hoping this will be the last for awhile, though. On the other hand......no, just kidding.
I don't spend as much time at the pool or the lake as I used to, although I still enjoy it when I get the chance.  In fact, I spent some time last weekend with family on the beach of Lake Michigan. It was great!
Two week vacations in the summer have been replaced by travel - whenever and wherever I can fit it in. When I first traveled abroad over fifteen years ago, I had no idea that travel would become such a big part of my life.  Thank you for allowing me to share my experiences with you.
Have a safe holiday weekend. Enjoy this week's posts and feel free to share the newsletter with your
family and friends! If you are reading your friend's newsletter, you can sign up for your own here.
Quote of the Week - 1 July 2016

“All this, and discontent too! Otherwise, why am I sitting here dreaming of England? Why am I gazing at this campfire like a lost should seeking a hope when all that I love is at my wingtips? Because I am curious. Because I am incorrigibly, now, a wanderer.”

― Beryl Markham, West with the Night

This Week's Post:

Wandering Venice - and Looking for the Yarn Shop

Venice, Italy, is the perfect place to be if you like to wander.  You can walk around exploring, turn down an interesting alleyway, or even get lost.  You don’t have to worry, though, because you will always be able to find your way back to where you started or where you need to be.

Narrow Streets

I’ve written about navigating through the city on the Grand Canal, but...

I was out of town this past weekend – no, not in Europe – I went to Minnesota. My daughter and I drove over seven hours to see our friends.  We are staying with my daughter’s friend and her family (thanks, H-), and exploring the town of Winona.

Saturday morning, we checked out the local yarn store, yarnology.  The store carries a large selection of yarn, including Rowan, Malabrigo, and Be Sweet, a yarn produced by women in South Africa.  If you are ever in the area, check it out – I highly recommend it.

On Sunday afternoon, we went to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. We didn’t know what to expect from a small town museum, but we were pleasantly surprised...
