To the Moon and Back
Welcome New Subscribers!
"I love you to the moon and back!"  How often have we said that to someone we love?  Have you ever thought about the enormity of it?
Frank Borman, author of this weeks quote, was a member of the first Apollo crew to circle the moon. The command module and crew made ten orbits around the moon on Christmas Eve in 1968. Imagine the excitement they must have felt!
I'm looking forward to Christmas this year, not for the presents - I haven't even started shopping. I'm looking forward to spending time with my family - I love them to the moon and back.
I've been sentimental lately. I keep thinking about special things we've done around the holidays - places we've gone, meals we've shared - and I can't wait to make more new memories this year.
What are you most looking forward to this holiday season?

Travel Planning and Organization Using Evernote

There are many online resources that can help with travel research and planning.  There are websites that give online reviews, ones that show the best prices, and others that give background and travel information for the sites that you plan to visit. At times it can be overwhelming.  Today, I'm going to talk about one way to organize the details of your itinerary and the information you have gathered.

Evernote is a great place to keep all your notes; it is also one of the easiest organizational tools to use. Evernote is a web application - you download the free program to your computer or access it online...

Where is the Bathroom?

Asking the question, “Where is the bathroom?” anywhere in Europe will get you a look, and maybe an eye roll, that says, “Here’s another tourist.”  The reason for the disgust was explained to me like this:  If you want to take a bath, ask for the bathroom; if you want to take a rest, ask for a restroom;  but if you need to pee, ask for a toilet.

As Americans, we have tried to cover up bodily functions by giving a nice name to the place where we relieve ourselves.  In most of Europe, the place is called a toilet (Netherlands, Belgium) or toilette (France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

You may have heard horror stories about foreign bathrooms...
