Keys to Success… the Subcontractor Team

Have you ever watched a sporting event where one team seemed like they could not do anything right? Unfortunately, construction projects can experience the same dysfunction, but a good team of subcontractors will make all the difference in a winning project.

A great construction manager is like a great quarterback or a great point guard. Their success depends on getting the ball in the right hands at the right time. However, the team’s ability to score is only as good as the team’s ability to execute. That is why a great subcontractor team is critical to the success of a project.

Construction Wrapping Up at Anderson Manufacturing

Paul Hemmer Company is wrapping up work on Anderson Manufacturing’s expansion in Hebron, Kentucky. The new building is adjacent to the company’s existing facility and was integrated into the campus to expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities. ATA Beilharz Architects and Viox and Viox oversaw the project’s design.

Prologis 6, Monroe

Work is nearing completion on Prologis’ 755,000 sq. ft. facility in Monroe, Ohio. Hemmer broke ground in August on the 63-acre site. The precast building will feature 38’ clear height and will be ready for occupancy this summer. This is Hemmer’s 17th major project for Prologis. ATA Beilharz Architects is the project architect.

Welcome Isaac Oelling

Paul Hemmer Company welcomes Isaac Oelling who joined the company as a co-op. This is Isaac’s first co-op. Isaac is a sophomore in the construction management program at Northern Kentucky University and is a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. A Northern Kentucky native, Isaac is also a graduate of Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, Kentucky where he played baseball.

Isaac’s interest in a construction career began in high school. His goal is to get off to a strong start in the construction field by gaining as much experience and guidance from the Hemmer team throughout his co-op. It is also possible to see Isaac at Cincinnati Reds games this summer, where Isaac works as a member of the grounds crew. Welcome Isaac.
Word of the Day

Setback—the distance that a building or other structure is set back from a street, property line or some other fixed point.

Why is it important? Setbacks can significantly affect the usability of a property. Building setbacks can also be different from parking and other setbacks. In addition, as each site is unique, zoning setbacks may potentially conflict with other requirements, including building codes. It is important to verify that all the building requirements are fully evaluated as early as possible in the planning process. If there is any doubt, a meeting with the appropriate officials is well worth the time.
