Sector Updates

Hi everyone,

As we wrap up the year, we just wanted to send you all our best wishes for the end of 2021. It's been an intense year, and we're grateful for you all, our fellow Networkers.

Our final QFVSN event for the year, the Queer Family Violence Sector Network Mixer, was a great success! It was wonderful to see you all, either in person or online, and fingers crossed there might be some more face-to-face opportunities headed our way next year.

We've included some resources and a bit of news below. Our team finishes up today for 2021, and we will be back at the end of January 2022. We'll have more for you then!

Wishing you all a restful and restorative festive period.
Warm regards,

Amelia, Shamini, Ash and Matt

Have you taken the Pride in Pandemic survey yet?

If you tick yes to the following, then La Trobe University and LGBTIQ+ Health Australia would love to hear from you:
✔️ Identifies as LGBTIQ+
✔️ Aged 18+
✔️ Living in Australia during the pandemic

This anonymous survey explores your experiences of social connection, wellbeing and access to healthcare and supports through the pandemic. These findings will be of great value for those working to protect and support the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ communities in times of crisis.

Resources

#StrongSafeFabulous Posters

#StrongSafeFabulous was developed by Prosper (Project Australia) in partnership with Rainbow Families NSW as an initiative to support the prevention of domestic & family violence, and child abuse in LGBTIQA+ families. We believe that all families have a right to live a life free from violence and that the whole community can take action to change the attitudes and social norms that lead to violence. #StrongSafeFabulous is informed by Our Watch’s Change the Story, the Australian national prevention of violence against women framework, and Rainbow Health Victoria’s Pride In Prevention.

Navigating Intersectionality Report

The Australian GLBTIQ+ Multicultural Council (AGMC) has conducted research on racism and other forms of discrimination (ROFD) faced by MCMF LGBTIQ+ communities.

The Navigating Intersectionality Report includes important data from multicultural, multifaith LGBTIQA+ Victorians regarding their interactions with the Family Violence sector, including Victoria Police.
