We were delighted to welcome over two hundred participants from across Australia and internationally. Special guest speakers included the Victorian Minister for Prevention of Family Violence, Gabrielle Williams, and Commissioner for Gender and Sexuality, Ro Allen. We were also joined by Russell Vickery, LGBTIQ representative on the Victorian Victim Survivors’ Advisory Council, who shared his lived experience and what this resource meant to him.

We would like to thank our panellists including our project partners Zoe Bell Gender Collective and Thorne Harbour Health, and leaders in the primary prevention of violence against women, Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria and Our Watch. Panellists shared their thoughts on the relevance of the resource to their work and its importance in developing a shared vision of ending all forms of family violence.

A recording of the webinar is now available on YouTube.

Minister Williams also announced an additional $95,000 for Rainbow Health Victoria to develop workforce development activities based on Pride in Prevention. This new funding will boost our ability to deliver the ground-breaking LGBTIQ Family Violence Prevention program, which was funded in 2019. This is even more important now, given we know that the current stress and isolation related to COVID-19 can worsen family violence for everyone. This project helps us learn how to address the causes of family violence and stop it before it starts.

We encourage you to take the opportunity to download and read a copy of the guide from our website.
