Not Another Second

An absolutely wonderful exhibition has been launched in the US showcasing a number of LGBT seniors and their stories - Not another Second.
The website has a range of information and resources, and the 14 minute film is very powerful and an absolute must watch for anyone interested in the lives and experiences of LGBT elders. It is a reminder of the diversity of experiences and the often difficult journey, and different paths to being out, proud, and happy. Although from the US, a great resource for staff education, as well as for clients and residents.

Key dates of celebration & commemoration

Val's has compiled some of the key LGBTI days of celebration and commemoration for you to weave into your 2021 activity programs for clients and residents, as well as staff education and information.
We have also included a range of Victorian events and festivals with their links so you can keep an eye on plans as we hopefully are able to come together in a Covid safe way. Many of these events are free and a great way to add richness to your activity programs and demonstrate your committment to and inclusion of LGBTI people and their allies.  Download here

Multicultural LGBTI+ photo journey project

A new project being conducted through Flinders University is aiming to explore the experiences of multicultural LGBTI+ elders through photography - Imagining Ageing Futures. The team behind the project is keen to hear from LGBTI+ people aged 50 - 64 living in Australia and from a multicultural (non-English) background. The online project will use photography to explore and create a more inclusive ageing future for the LGBTI+ multicultural community. Help spread the word - more information is available here
