While traveling to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, Polites, Fox and Williams, all combat medics, witnessed a civilian vehicle rollover. The Soldiers responded to the scene and assessed the vehicle’s two occupants. The two injured occupants only spoke Spanish, so the medics enlisted the help of Flores, a scout team leader, to translate. The driver suffered severe injuries to his head and face and the passenger had minor cuts. Flores translated between the injured and the medics while they conducted first aid. The medics treated the driver for bleeding and shock, stabilizing him until state troopers and paramedics arrived nearly 30 minutes later. The Soldiers’ selfless actions are a testament to the ethos and fighting spirit of the “Manchu” Battalion and “Raider” Brigade. Steadfast and Loyal! Continue Reading Soldiers of the Week
