It Doesn't Take All That
October 2, 2020
"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Romans 10:9
My memoir will be released in the spring of 2021. My next book, "Beyond the Board" will be released in November of this year. I have two movie scripts floating around and I'm writing a TV pilot.

As a brand ambassador, I have commitments to keep up with my social media posts. I have writing clients that need their blogs and product reviews and....oh...yeah, we're in the middle of a global pandemic, national election, and racial crisis so I'm using my voice daily. Where I'm from in Appalachia we say, "I'm working like a one-arm paper hanger."

The Bible tells us that if we believe in Jesus and openly say it, we're saved. That's it. We don't have to do anything else. You don't need to work like a one-arm paper hanger for Jesus.

"It doesn't take all that."

You don't have to go to church to be saved. But when church is over and you feel better than you did before, you want to come back next week. You're attending church every Sunday.  It doesn't take all that. But it sure feels I right?.

You don't have to forgive others, love your neighbor, or pray for your enemies to be a Christian. It doesn't take all that. But life is much more peaceful and productive when you do.

You don't need to give to those less fortunate and honor your parents to be a Christian. It doesn't take all that.  But life is very rewarding when you do.

You don't have to treat your body like a temple to be a Christian, but there are great health benefits when you do.

You don't need to train your children up in the way they should go in order to be a Christian parent, but the future is brighter when you do.

All it takes to be a Christian is right there in Romans 10:9. That's it. That's all. But...if you want to have a full, rewarding, peaceful going to take some doing.

"Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can DO the good things he planned for us long ago." - Ephesians 2:9-10

Many people get frustrated with all this purpose talk. They tried it and it didn't work. After changing cities, jobs, or even spouses, they find themselves in the same old rut. They start to believe that life is meaningless and we're just here to work, live, and have a few good times in between.

No! There is more to life than that.

Purpose, contentment, and satisfaction is found at the intersection of what you love and what you're really good at...that's your lane. That's where you can live.

Find Your Lane

Are you inspired? Good! I want you to put that inspiration, motivation, and knowledge to work.

You were a purpose before you were a person. Whether you pave roads or preach the gospel, God is in everything you do because you belong to him. He feeds you so you can have the energy and strength to do the work.
