Shift Leaders group
We hope that you had a relaxing Easter break. Summer is officially over and we have well and truly kicked off the year with the whole region buzzing with Shift goodness! Already the end of term 1 and school holidays are just around the corner.

The Shift Coordinators have been co-designing opportunities alongside young women and are creating some amazing and fun events that will bring more wellbeing opportunities to hundreds of young women all over Wellington! (see more below).

We have also started planning for LeadHERship, our senior students leadership programme starting in May and EmpowHER, our annual free conference for all young women in June. So, there's lots to look forward to and celebrate!

It's been a huge start to the year across the regions! We can not believe that term 1 is nearly at an end. Just Shift It has been back in most colleges with Spikeball, Softball, Boxing, Jumbo Tennis and more.

One of the biggest highlights has been our Mindfulness Art Workshops. We’ve been exploring three mindfulness techniques through different artistic activities. Shifting our minds and bodies by throwing paint around – how good?! Watch the time lapse below.

Watch Now
The 10 members of the EmpowHER committee have gathered for the first time and what a fantastic team of passionate young women! Watch this space for updates, details of the day and the amazing journey that the committee will be taking.
EMPOWHER is funded by Ministry of Youth Development and in collaboration with our friends at Zeal.
Young women learning to ride bikes
We celebrated International Women's Day by partnering up with our friends at Revolve, to bring some young women from international backgrounds along to learn to ride bikes!
It was a brilliant event with women from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities gathering together to laugh, eat, chat, learn and be brave enough to try a new skill.

Thanks so much to Revolve for letting us be a part of this event and bringing 11 young women from Naenae College to experience it!
In March we ran our first trial of sharing our insights and learnings from Shift so far. The Shift The Trend workshop is an interactive 3 hour session that shared impact stories, in-depth data from the Shift case study, the needs of young women and ways to engage them.

This workshop can be adapted to suit anyone who works in the worlds of young women, physical activity, wellbeing, programme development and more. If you are interested in our workshops then register your interest through the link below.

Waka Ama in Porirua

Earlier in March, Shift ran a Waka Ama event in collab with NZ Police and Hawaikinui Tuarua Waka Ama Club. 36 young women from Mana College, Porirua College and the local community came down to be a part of an awesome afternoon with a sausage sizzle and some volleyball on the shore. We had girls asking when it would be on again before they even got out of the waka!

Huge thank you to Tū Ora enabling us to continue to organise this event.
Just Shift It events for the school holidays have officially launched on our website for April. With a huge mix of boxing, rock climbing, food workshops, dance and trampoline parks - there is so much to choose from!

Make sure you check out our website and share it with any young women you know who may want to connect and be a part of these amazing low cost and FREE events.
