LeaseNet wants to wish all of you HAPPY HOLIDAYS from all of us here. It has been a year of many changes and we are looking forward to the exciting new things that 2017 will bring us!

The 5 Hour Rule to Continued Success

A system of constant learning used by Benjamin Franklin, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates.

Be a lifelong learner!
Commit 5 hours a week to improving, educating, experimenting.

Habit can stagnate our ideas and skills, but by committing to being a lifelong learner, you commit to bettering yourself and your work. Stepping outside of your usual routine and daring to be challenged is what the five-hour rule is all about. It can keep big time executives to small business owners from feeling stuck, burnt out, or unprepared.

Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, claims that lifelong learning is what defines him as a leader. “I fundamentally believe that if you are not learning new things, you stop doing great and useful things.”
New opportunities are on the horizon for people that invest in themselves, and that can start with just five hours a week.

At LeaseNet we are constantly reading, researching, and trying new things to stay on top of the ever evolving world of new technology and new best practices to make sure we are delivering the best product we can to our customers. Our recent investment into optimized internet routing is one prime example that came out of researching better ways to deliver content to our customers.

A Customer Service Story

'Twas the night before moving and all through the house, not a fiber was stirring...

We would like to share a story of a recent customer challenge that LeaseNet stepped-up in a tight spot and helped a customer not miss a beat with their business internet.

A software company, 100% new customer for us, contacted LeaseNet very late in the hour about a physical office move and they needed high speed internet in their new location. While we like to think we can always work miracles, research revealed that there was no fiber in their new location.

However, LeaseNet engineer and owner, Ron Mara, did some more research and found out that there was fiber to a neighboring building and some very old installed cabling connecting the two. Of course we placed the order for the long term, new fiber connection to the new building... but because it did not exist it was going to take at least 3 months to build out.

So, LeaseNet decided to get them up and running from an ad-hoc connection to the neighboring building at our own cost. We provided our own equipment and considerable time to setup the temporary connection to the neighboring building to ensure this company did not miss a beat with their mission critical, business internet needs.

Now.. does anyone think Frontier or any other company is going to do anything like this?

SEO - Google Changing Rules in 2017 for Ranking

Security Certificates - SSL Required

Starting in January 2017, Google will be putting extra weight on website security. This means that having an encrypted version of your web page (having https instead of http) will rank higher than a non-encrypted one. They have made this announcement, and now is the time to get ahead of the curve by preparing your website.

Mobile Web is the Focus for 2017

Google has also announced that they will be putting more focus on Mobile friendly content. The fancy word for this is having a "responsive" website. A website that adjusts cleanly and efficiently to any size viewing screen from small mobile phone, to tablet, to desktop. If your website is not doing that today, then be prepared to start being left behind by natural Google rankings in 2017.

How do we fix it?

Contact LeaseNet's web presence team for help with your overall web presence today. Fixing the security certificate and the mobile responsiveness is just two of the things on our 100 point checklist for getting your website SEO ready and friendly.

Ron's Tech Tip

HTTPSecure Your Company Web Page

As just mentioned above Google is changing the rules of the game and requiring that all websites be secure and encrypted starting in 2017. I believe strongly in getting your website secure with a digital certificate known as an SSL. It provides key based encryption between the server and the client, to ensure that all data transmitted between the user and the website is safe.

If collecting email addresses or credit card information, it is important to lock down this information.

Contact us today, if you need assistance getting this done. We have a professional web team that can handle this for you with pleasure.
