SARG news
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day. Mine was enjoyably quiet with a nice dinner in. The kitties in my house spent some extra time snuggling too!

SARG is gearing up for our new spring yard sale! Dates have not been set yet, but you will be the first to know. I will be sending out another email to announce the dates. In the meantime if you have any donations please contact us any time at 865-483-8146 or 865-659-6155 to arrange drop off. You can also email SARG at info@shelteranimalsrescue.org

I also wanted to say a special thank you to all out there that signed up through Amazon Smile and have been donating to SARG from Amazon. It is making a very large impact for us. We never get names of those who are signed up so I'm giving you a shout out. If you need would like to sign up I have a link at the bottom of this email. Thank you all and lets finish out this winter with a warming event! (If you have meet me you know I don't like the cold! So I'm hoping for an early spring!)  by: Jennifer Robinson

Rainbow Bridge
Max Baker came to live with Jan and Ron Baker when they fostered him as a 4- month-old kitten after he was born on Labor Day 2004.  Max was the favorite--he loved everybody and expected that everyone would be happy when he jumped on the table to help during SARG Board meetings or into a lap when a guest came to call.  He attended Ron's funeral in 2016 as a representative of all the Baker cats, where he sat on a friend's lap and meowed once--after Taps.  Max truly was a special boy and will be forever missed.
Beautiful Harper, an Aussie mix who has lived many of her 15 years with Tim Waller in Florida, lost her battle with kidney disease.  She lived long and fought hard, and leaves a gigantic hole by her absence.  Tim had just recently lost Scout, his SARG rescue.  They are both now across the Rainbow
Bridge.  As Tim said, it's been a long winter.
About 10 years ago, Yoshi--a beautiful Himalayan SARG kitty--went to live with Michelle Hamblin and her family. We are sad to tell you that Michelle and her family said goodbye to sweet Yoshi on February 18th.   He was diagnosed with cancer last July and fought a brave battle. He would have been 18 this year. Our hearts are broken but we were blessed to have him as part of our lives for over 10 years. This picture was taken by our groomer a few weeks ago. It shows his sweet funny nature that he held on to until the end. Thank you to SARG for saving Yoshi, all those years ago, and allowing him to be part of our lives.  Yoshi was indeed a special SARG cat.  We know he'll be greatly missed by his human family.

In memory of Jack, much loved and greatly missed by big brother Noah and mom Marilyn.  He greeted each day with excitement about the day's walk--the new people and dogs he'd get to meet, or maybe just old familiar friends who looked forward to seeing him, too. Although small in stature, in his mind he was large and in charge, just ask those pesky squirrels in the back yard.  Snack time and family time just aren't the same without this sweet boy. You brought joy to those who knew you Jack.

Once upon a time...

Stephanie lost one of her kitties.  After many years with many cats, she knew that for her, male tabbies were the best--the sweetest and most loving.  So she asked SARG for help in finding a male tabby kitten.

Unfortunately, SARG and the Shelter made a mistake...Stephanie got her tabby, but it was a GIRL.  And she didn't act like a "real" tabby.  She was NOT sweet tempered and loving.  She was a "faux" tabby who had no interest in being sweet and loving.  Stephanie loved her.  But she still wanted a real tabby...

When two more of her kitties crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Stephanie once again trusted SARG to find her perfect kitty.  Only now the order was 2 tabby male kittens--litter mates only.

One would think that would be an easy job.  After all, tabbies are reasonably common.  Except they aren't.  Not when one wants two tabby boys from the same litter, no more than 8 weeks old.  It took almost a year to find the perfect boys.  And these tabby boys were also bobtails!  A plus!

And...now that Brody and Bailey have joined the family, Pippin (their tabby sister) has become friendlier.  She actually likes the boys and is much friendlier to mom Stephanie too.

Maybe there is something to that old wives tale about tabbies--even when they are girls.  Maybe they just need to be in groups!
