Volunteering through Evacuteer

As images of the devastating floods in East Baton Rouge, Tangipahoa, St. Helena and  nine more parishes stream across on our TVs and smart phones, many of you may be wondering what you can do to help fellow Louisianans. Our friends at are coordinating volunteers who want to assist. Use this form to sign up.

This is the third federal disaster declaration for flooding in Louisiana in just over one year. We know that strong storms will make evacuation necessary again at some point in the future. So, in addition to responding we are planning:

The Water Collaborative is putting together a team of Evacuteers. We need volunteers who can attend a 2-hour training and serve up to 7 hours in the event of a mandatory evacuation. We also need a team leader to relay instructions and assignments. If you are interested, please e-mail me for details.

All the best,
Nathan Lott
