Working together for safety, self care and support
Hello <<First Name>>
Hope you are all keeping safe & following Government guidelines to protect each other at the present time. It's so very important that we are looking after ourselves and observing self care. Here is an excellent list and info from Mind about wellbeing during Coronavirus. Hope you like the 'Together' image by our community worker Milena and her tips for wellbeing (next article).
Some self- care tips from PSBL
What is self-care? Self-care is any activity that we undertake in order to take care of our mental, emotional and physical health. Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety, as well as a path to a good relationship with oneself and others. Our green spaces community worker, Milena, has written a short self-care guide.
Stay connected while in isolation - the digital ways to do it
Phone calls, WhatsApp, Facebook, FaceTime are all so important at this time, and hopefully also real letters and postcards are making a comeback! It has been a rather sudden learning need for everyone, to get used to online chatting and meetings. Here is an article about the pros and cons of various online meetings such as Zoom. And here is some guidance from Big Local about using Zoom. We will be holding online coffee mornings (on Zoom) on Thursdays 10.30-11.15, starting on St Georges Day, 23rd April. More info will be available in the next week E News. If anyone wants some help getting on Zoom do contact us and we will try and talk you through it.
Virtual tours! A way you can still enjoy the culture and opportunities in Museums and Galleries
We are glad to share this recommendation from a local resident for virtual arts and culture tours. "As someone who would normally spend time walking round galleries and museums, I am now exploring them
virtually - around the world - at artsandculture.google.com"
‘We are pleased to help fund Money A&E who are continuing to support our community with financial advice during this time of difficulty.
The Money Coach service will continue to offer one-to-one (telephone only) support with money, debt and benefits. As our team are now working remotely, we are offering telephone appointments. Please call or email using the contact details below to book.
Please be aware that demand for the service is unpredictable at this time, and wait times for an appointment are therefore uncertain. We are grateful for your patience and understanding.
Nature's gift of beauty on Tunmarsh Lane
For anyone walking down Tunmarsh Lane, the sight of glorious flowering Tree Pit Mini Gardens adopted by local residents, is a welcome one. When taking these photos three passers-by (socially distanced) shouted out: 'thank you for doing this great work for the community', and "It lifts my spirit seeing this in Plaistow.". The hope is that the good work will continue when the meeting restrictions are eased off, ,but for now at least Nature is giving us a gift of beauty to help us through these tough times.' (Milena)
