Nature lovers - the Green Gym is open again - Thursdays 11-2 in the Greenway Orchard
At the peak of summer, Green Gym has resumed its Thursday sessions at The Orchard on the Greenway. Excitement is palpable amongst the long-standing members as the final preparations are taking place for the delivery of the gifted container, which will become the Green Gym's new base and much needed safe storage space on site.
The Green Gym volunteers have separately been busy cutting the grass, watering the trees and growing beds and collecting apples, which will be turned into something tasty, no doubt. Now it is formally open after Lockdown. If you were thinking of joining, things have changed in line with Covid-19 safety guidelines and you must register in advance. This coming week the contact is Eleanor: 07837 077150 and from then on Lucy: 07543 519174 / Lucy@samoa.co.uk

Tree pit community gardens
Following a grant from PSBL, our Green Spaces Community Worker, Milena, ran a gardening session at the Tree Pit Community Gardens on Tunmarsh Lane this week, replenishing the stock of plants to keep the Tree Pits looking lush and appealing for the residents to enjoy. Despite the hot weather, local green-fingered residents came out to help, enjoying a bit of socialising and connecting as theiy worked with skill and enthusiasm. More plants will be arriving in the coming weeks, with more sessions to be subsequently scheduled.
An update on the Community Resilience Fund applications!
Thank you to all who applied to the Plaistow South Big Local Community Resilience Fund. We received a fantastic response, with a diverse range of applications- from people wanting to run activities for their local community, to proposals for improving the public spaces in the area. The PSBL Steering Group has approved recommendations for funding at the Steering Group meeting last week, and we will be in touch with applicants to let them know the outcome in the next couple of weeks. Watch this space!
