Last Call for Today's Free Class: Energy Efficiency for Everyone

Virtual class offered via Zoom
2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8

Join us today for "Energy Efficiency for Everyone," a free webinar for anyone interested in improving the energy efficiency of your home to increase comfort, save money and reduce environmental impacts.

We will discuss things you can do yourself to save energy, where to obtain rebates and incentives that can help you cover the costs, and how to hire local professionals to support you on bigger jobs. The workshop includes an introduction to solar energy and how to pay for it.

Led by Green Built Alliance Executive Director Sam Ruark-Eastes, this workshop is geared toward existing homes with a goal of making energy efficiency accessible for everyone, including those on a limited budget.

The event is free and open to the public. Please reserve a complimentary ticket via Eventbrite to save your space.

New Version of Green Built Homes Checklist Launching Next Month

Green Built Alliance is thrilled to announce the release of Green Built Homes Version 3.0, updated and revised to stay current with changing building codes and increase simplicity for participants. Homes registered after January 1, 2021 will be required to use the new checklist.

Green Built Homes is now leaner and greener. Many items that are now standard construction practices have been removed from our checklist, while we have added opportunities to gain points for new technologies.

The sections have been overhauled to be more streamlined and organized. The point system and levels have been adjusted to reflect the changes.

Thanks to funding from the Kendeda Foundation, the program now places more emphasis on regenerative elements, including the addition of a Net Zero Water Ready Certification and a pilot Regenerative Certification. For easy reference, all items considered regenerative are highlighted in green across the checklist.

Two New Prerequisites:

  • Baths with showers must be tested to exhaust 50 CFM intermittent or 20 CFM continuous
  • CFL or LED light bulbs must be installed in 75 percent of lamps in permanent lighting fixtures (consistent with code)

Please review the new version and contact us or your rater to discuss how it will affect your future projects!

Support Our Nonprofit This Holiday and Remember Us in Year-End Giving

With the end of 2020 less than two months away, many people have turned their minds toward ways to give back this holiday season and places to contribute their year-end charitable giving.

We invite those interested in supporting us to donate via Mountain Xpress' annual Give!Local year-end fundraising drive. We receive 100 percent of all donations made to us through that campaign, and offer incentives to donors.
