What's up, kapatid? We hope you've had an incredible month! We have so much good news that we're excited to share with you all as we launched SUGPAT 4.0! Here's what's up with SUGPAT  in our April-May E-Newsletter:

In it's fourth iteration this year, SUGPAT will expand its work to implement new programs which cover areas on research, graduate studies, and alternative education, all contributing to the vision of becoming a pioneer resource center for adolescents in the country.

Fourth cycle of expanded SUGPAT Program launched

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW JOURNEY

To better address the adolescent programming in the city, SUGPAT officially launched its program last March 12 at Madrid Hall, Palacio del Sur, Zamboanga City. 

Now on its fourth cycle, the SUGPAT Program of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s Center for Culture and the Arts, fully funded and supported by UNICEF and ING was formally introduced to a crowd of more than 300. 

Among them were UNICEF Headquarters Adolescent and Development Specialist Fabio Friscia, UNICEF Philippines Education Chief Isy Faingold, Ateneo de Zamboanga University President Fr. Karel San Juan, SJ, Department of Education Region IX Director Isabelita Borres, and National Youth Commission Commissioner-at-Large James Ceasar Ventura who all gave messages during the launch. READ MORE>>>

SUGPAT Power for Youth project engages Zambo del Norte ALS implementers

EMPOWERING ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM IMPLEMENTERS

More than a hundred Alternative Learning System (ALS) Implementers gathered for a 6-day training at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City on May 19 to 24, 2019.

The training entitled “Power for Youth: A Training of ALS Implementers on the Delivery of Life Skills Modules” was participated by 120 ALS Implementers coming from different areas in Zamboanga del Norte.

The training aims to enable the ALS implementers on the articulation of competencies into success indicators, science and art of questioning, and cooperative learning and assessment strategies.

According to the data gathered by DepEd Central Office, Zamboanga del Norte has the highest number of ALS Learners in Zamboanga Peninsula. This is the primary reason why the SUGPAT Program targeted Zamboanga del Norte as its area to conduct the training.  READ MORE>>>

SUGPAT conducts Technical Working Group with ALS Implementers in Dipolog City

IN PREPARATION FOR SUGPAT POWER FOR YOUTH TRAINING OF ALS IMPLEMENTERS

To prepare for the upcoming training for Zamboanga del Norte ALS Implementers, a Technical Working Group Meeting and Writeshop on Contextualization of Life Skills Modules was conducted in the Division Office, Department of Education at Zamboanga del Norte last April 9 and 10, 2019.

The two-day meeting was attended by the Zamboanga del Norte Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, ALS Focal Person, Education Program Specialists for ALS and IPEd, Faculty of the School of Education of Ateneo de Zamboanga University and the SUGPAT Education Team. READ MORE>>>

SUGPAT'S EXPANSION IN ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION

A total of 64 Alternative Learning System (ALS) implementers from the division of Zamboanga del Norte underwent the “Training of Trainers on Contextualization of Work-Readiness Modules” last March 12-15, 2018 at the C.T. Boulevard Hotel, Zamboanga City. 

Immediately after launching the fourth cycle of the SUGPAT Program, the program rolled out its first activity, a training for the ALS implementers of Zamboanga del Norte.

“We are very excited that we are having Zamboanga del Norte, and even the region as our partner for the mission for the out-of-school youth,” Training Officer Rogin Christ Eribal said. READ MORE>>>

Out-of-school youths and barangay leaders complete SUGPAT Programs

JOINT COMPLETION OF ALSPA AND BLP FELLOWS

After almost a year of journeying together, the 70 fellows of the SUGPAT Barangay Leadership Program (BLP) and 28 fellows of the SUGPAT Alternative School for Peacebuilding and the Arts (ALSPA) finally completes programs of SUGPAT.

The joint completion of the ALSPA and BLP Fellows were witnessed by partners from UNICEF, the city government, faculty and staff of Ateneo de Zamboanga, and the completers’ loved ones last February 28 at the Madrid Hall, Palacio del Sur. 

“To our completers, I know for sure that you will be proud. Because when people ask you, you can say ‘I am a graduate of Ateneo.’” Mx Mario Balibago, UNICEF Philippines HIV Specialist said in her message. READ MORE>>>
