School Value for Term 1
Kia ora Whanau,

The summer holidays are but a distant memory and the school year is well and truly underway. All of our students have settled in and are already learning. As we all know, starting primary school is a big milestone for children and can be daunting.  Our new entrants are transitioning well and are happy in their new classes.

Our Year 7 and 8 camp planning is well advanced and thank you to all those parents who have attended the camp meetings. This year's camp promises to be as exciting and adventurous as in previous years and we wish them all the very best.

Thank you to all those parents who attended the Family Zone meeting on Monday night. We take our cyber safety very seriously and hope to see as many parents as possible take up the free offer and install the Insights software on their children's devices. For more information about Family Zone and the installation, please go to our website and under the Information Tab, click on Cybersafety Hub.

Our annual golf day will be taking place on the 5th of March and my thanks go to Nigel Perkins and the PTA organising committee for making this all happen. Funds raised at this event will be going towards the development of a covered sports/playground on the backfield.

Over the coming weeks, we will be holding our various team swimming sports. We know that these events are well supported and encourage all parents who are able, to come along and cheer for their children. We wish all of our swimmers the best of luck.
Kind regards,

Gary Pasfield

School Life

Kapa Haka
This term in kapa haka is our 'give it a go' term. There is no commitment required from students this term, they can simply come along on a Monday afternoon and see if they like it. Towards the end of the term, registration information will be sent home for those students who wish to join for the remainder of the year. T-shirt orders will also be available for those who register.

Lost Property
The Lost Property Cupboard is bulging at the seams!  The cupboard is open before and after school so come down and have a look or send your child to find what they have lost.  When the weather cools please make sure your child's sweatshirts and jackets are well named.

Resource Amnesty
If you have books, readers or any school resources at home please bring them in - no questions asked!

Thank You
Thank you to the wonderful Waimauku Lions who have been great supporters of our school and are currently helping us with some camp costs.  The Lions are holding their annual Gala on Sunday 29 March at the Waimauku Village Shops, it would be great if we supported them as a community.

Kindo is the easy way to pay for trips and fill in permission forms.  If you ever need assistance or just want to know how to get started please contact Nicky at the office or call the Kindo helpline 0508 4KINDO.

Permission Slips
Please fill in permission slips for trips and events at least 48 hours before the trip if possible.   This saves a lot of last minute ringing around, thanks in advance!

Last week we held a pōwhiri to welcome all our new whānau. Thank you to our kapa haka rōpū who performed with great skill and enthusiasm.
Kia ora koutou,
On behalf of Maia Mariner (Founder) of LazySneakers, we want to thank Waimauku School for getting behind the project. We understand that you donated sneakers to the project and we can say with confidence that they have found new homes - thank you.
A special thanks to super mum Lucy Kirk and the dynamic duo of Luka and Isla Kirk for volunteering with Maia on the day. They demonstrated patience and kindness with the students on February 18th, 2020 to ensure students found a pair of sneakers that they liked and fitted.  They made great LazySneaker Ambassadors.   Their active participation contributed significantly to the success of the event.  We also understand the girls went the extra mile to ensure the sneakers were ready for distribution.  We delivered 330 sneakers to a school in East Auckland and the positive feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

LazySneakers collects good, quality and reusable sneakers from the community and gives to people in need for FREE. It was established in 2018 and we have been able to collect over 2000 sneakers and given away 2100 since its launch. Please check out our website www:// for more information.

Student Achievement
Congratulations to Maisie McGregor and Sabina Altorf who received the honour of wearing the school Korowai. Korowai are worn as a mantle of prestige and honour for students who demonstrate our school values and good citizenship.

Did you know?
There is so much info on our school website

to help navigate it we have included a Search bar - find it at the top of our Home page. It will take you directly to the info you need.

Also, our entire school calendar is on the front page.  If you are looking for the date of an event this is a great place to start.  A lot of the events on the calendar have further information if you click on them.

PTA Golf Tournament 5 March
It's all about golf this week and the next for the PTA. Sixteen online auctions will go live this Friday so have a look through and see what takes your fancy. You don’t have to have entered a team in order to bid for the auctions – they are open to all! There are some very cool items up for grabs including a Home Security Pack, a Good from Scratch Cooking Class, a BBQ, Family Passes to Rainbow’s End, Auckland Zoo, MOTAT and Parakai Springs and lots of other goodies!! A huge thank you to all our sponsors and good luck to all who have entered a team it's going to be a superb day!
The PTA are holding their AGM on 9 March at 7pm in the staffroom. All welcome! Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
If you want to contribute to our school, be part of a fun, enthusiastic, supportive crew of people and put together awesome events for our kids and parents, then come and join the PTA. The committee meets once a month to plan and put together events to raise funds for the school - largely for the purchase of playground and educational equipment – and to support school activities (such as Greats and Grands). It's also a great way to get involved in the school and keep up to date with what is happening. Many hands make light work in the PTA and of course the more the merrier!
If you can’t regularly attend the meetings but are still keen to do your bit, we are putting together a Friends of the PTA network, for people who are happy to lend a hand as and when needed. We’ll keep you up to date with event planning and what’s coming up and where you can contribute your time, energy and ideas. If this sounds more like you please contact the PTA on
Outdoor Movie Night - TBC
Hopefully, this is TBC (To Be Confirmed) not TBC (To Be Cancelled) as we are getting rather desperate to find a reasonably sized outdoor projector and screen to run this event – if you have or know of where we can beg, borrow or hire one (for a reasonable price!) please contact the PTA on
