Swirling, Whirling Through

the USA...and Cute Baby

Pictures to Boot!

Starkey - Party of Five!

Thanks to everyone who has been praying for Finnegan's health.

He continues to 'beat the odds' at every doctor's appointment.

So far Finn is shunt-free, praise the Lord! His neurosurgeons have now stretched his ultrasounds out to once monthly, continuing to monitor fluid levels on his brain.

The orthopedist says Finnegan will walk, and that he has good nerve sensitivity, leg movement, and full range of motion in all joints down through his ankles. Interestingly, he seems to have no feeling on the very bottoms of his feet (not a huge problem at all)!

God is answering our prayers...and a truly remarkable way! Please keep praying for good reports and no negative change in Finn's fluid levels.
Now. Who wants a better look at that baby?!

Home Assignment, Part 2

Our time in Arizona was mostly focused on Finnegan's birth and his subsequent medical care. While certainly stressful at times, it was also an amazing time to recharge and relax with Kim's family, who graciously hosted our growing family.

We have now relocated to Ohio for the remainder of our time in the USA (return to Bulgaria is mid-April). Now it's my family's turn to graciously host :)

In addition to transferring Finnegan's care to a doctor in Columbus, we will use this time to connect with many friends who partner with our ministry, and provide updates on the movement of God in Bulgaria to whoever will listen.

Here's some specific Wheres and Whens:

Feb. 25 - Faith Bible Church

March 4 - Faith Bible Church (missions moment and luncheon/presentation after 2nd service)

March 11 - Riverside Bible Church (luncheon/presentation after service)

March 18 - Gethsemane Baptist Church (update during service)

March 25 - Vessel Community Church (update during service)

April 1 - EASTER at Riverside Bible Church

Meanwhile, in Bulgaria...

...ministry continues through the winter and in preparation for another busy summer with eight evangelical camps (using wilderness, English, music, and sports as tools to share the Gospel).

To help us accomplish all this, we will have 10 interns (7 Americans, 3 Bulgarians) and also host 4 short-term teams (3 from the US, 1 from N. Ireland).

BELOW: EDGE Sports coaches' training was last weekend. These young Christian leaders are becoming equipped to lead weekly soccer ministries through their local churches.

For a More Thorough Update
One of our partner churches recently asked for a comprehensive family update to be distributed at their annual business meeting.

So I wrote a 2-page update - in the style of a Christmas card - with more details about what we've been doing and some plans and prayer requests for the future.

Here's a teaser excerpt, and if you want to read the whole thing, click on the blue button below:

"This Psalm, the last of the psalms of David, is a hymn that praises God for his goodness. I love the numerous verbs that are used throughout for praising God (extol, bless, praise, commend, declare, meditate, speak, pour forth, sing aloud).

David can hardly contain himself as he focuses on the many blessings of God that he has experienced, and on the urgency of passing it on, of telling the next generation about the good and might character of our Lord and Savior.

We feel the same way!"
