Glorious choral music for 2019!

Come to hear BFCS sing the jubilant 'Gloria' by John Rutter,
accompanied by Gemini Brass!

Several  of the other works in this concert have royal connections: 'I was glad', by Hubert Parry was written for the coronation of Edward VII in 1902, revised for the Coronation of George V, and was used more recently as the processional at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011. William Walton's Coronation Te Deum was written for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, and The Call of Wisdom, by Will Todd was written for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The centenary of the birth of Jean Dattas will be recognised by the performance of several of the pieces he wrote for the choir at Notre Dame in Paris when he was organist there. BFCS, which includes Dattas' daughter, Sylvie, has previously sung Jean Dattas' music at concerts in England and France, and are pleased to mark his special anniversary in our concert.

We will also be singing one of the choral pieces written by our former Patron, John Joubert, who died this month. We are proud to have had an association with such a talented composer, and are grateful for his choral music, which has brought such pleasure over the years and will continue to do so long into the future..

Three unaccompanied pieces by Will Todd will contrast with separate pieces performed by Gemini Brass.
