Symposium Highlight

The Youth4Music Hub in Toronto has held its second annual youth leadership symposium this fall, at Ryerson University. The local hub, led by Christina BeHarry and Becky Hargreaves, put together a program to inspire the attendees, who came from far and wide for the event. It was also an opportunity to bring like minds together and discuss ways in which to put the Manifesto into action. The jam sessions, musical presentations and speeches had everyone on the edge of their seats. Keep an eye out for some great things to come from our Youth4Music network as we put our ideas into action!

OrKidstra: Music education impacting the lives of youth

Music education has the potential to be a highly influential factor in youth development. Influenced by the profound results of Venezuela's El Sistema program, Ottawa’s own OrKidstra program is using music in a powerful way to reach the underserved population. Find out more about how youth are becoming engaged in music throughout the city from one of the program instructors, Venessa Lachance.

Are you inspired by the work and impact of our youth leaders? Now you can make a difference through your financial support here. Funds raised will help support a nation-wide program for youth leaders who are making a difference for music in their schools and communities and will support youth-led action on their Manifesto for learning, creating, making and VALUING music in Canada.

Cape Breton joins the Youth4Music family!

With our Youth4Music team working hard, we are successfully working our way across Canada to reach youth in every corner of the country! One of our latest symposiums took place in Cape Breton, with the help of a new Youth4Music network. With jam sessions, collaborative opportunities and presentations for guest speakers, the participants at the symposium were inspired to make a difference in their communities. Read about the experience here from Melanie’s perspective.

Stay tuned for more details on the Symposium happening in Vancouver on April 1st and one in Ottawa.
