The Power of Joy
Becoming our True Selves
by: Nancy Werteen
I’ve been watching my daughter. She’s 18, so I don’t mean it in the way you think I do. I’ve been literally watching her blossom. She’s in her first year of college. Remember that time in your life? You could be anything and anyone you wanted to be. The world was exciting and challenging and the friends you made were going to be your friends for life.

Every time I see her, she’s different. She’s examining her beliefs, her relationships and her future without me. It’s difficult in a way but it’s also exhilarating. I find myself thinking about how different my younger years would be if I knew then what I know now. But that’s not how it works, is it? We journey, we stumble, we fall, we get back up. I could try and tell her all I’ve learned but that wouldn’t be the same. She has to discover these things on her own. She has to find her true self. And she’s getting there.

The whole experience has me thinking about my own path to self-discovery. Life goes by so fast that sometimes we forget to be intentional about our lives, our relationships and our hopes for who we are and who we want to be.

So today, I’ve decided to be 18 again. Doesn’t that sound great?? Physically maybe, but mentally, that’s another story. I like where I am.  I know who I am and what my values are. But I like the idea of exploring all of it, like she’s doing. She’s asking questions, considering different opinions and ideas, working hard to set herself apart from the child she’s grown out of.

I invite you to join me and take a look inside at who’s there. She might be someone you haven’t seen in awhile. Dust her off and shine her up. The best is yet to be!!
The Power of Why
Life Just Keeps Getting Better
by:  Kim Howie
I'll admit that sometimes I look back and miss the days when I was younger and had less responsibilities, with no one to care for but myself.  But the truth is that I wouldn't trade a moment of today for a lifetime of yesterdays,  I love being a wife and a mother and having the privilege of taking care of my husband and children!

I remember looking forward to teaching my children all of the lessons I've learned to help them on their journey in life.  But ironically, I've found that I have learned as much (if not more) from them about life than they've learned from me.  I watch them navigate life with ease, simply following their hearts' desires and thriving on pure joy. Yes, I've learned so much about the meaning of life by watching my children!

I believe the true purpose of life is growth and expansion, but most of all it's about fulfillment.  I look for opportunities to evolve and continually remind myself that life just keeps getting better and better!

Nuggets of Wisdom
From:  Carmen Twillie Ambar/President of Cedar Crest College
Nancy Werteen:  What would you tell your younger self?

Carmen Twillie Ambar/President of Cedar Crest College: "Observe the masses and do the opposite. That is really how you find joy in your life-not trying to do what everyone else does but just walk your own path."
We are SO excited to share the beautiful wisdom symbol pendant designed by Susan Bella Jewelers.

She has created two designs for us ("classic and elegant" ~ polished silver and "organic and earthy" ~ oxidized silver). Each contains a stunning citrine stone in the center of the sunflower to enhance the "glow" of your core energy!

Be sure to stop by Susan's table and check them out at our Kick-Off Celebration!  And don't miss our podcast episode with Susan which will be released on iTunes later this week.
