The Power of Joy
Remember What IS Important
by: Nancy Werteen
Darn it...it snuck up on me again. Seriously it's not a surprise when Christmas is. It's on the calendar all year, for years and years in fact. And yet, every year, despite my lamenting that, "This year I'm going to be early," I find myself in a full fledged panic the week before our happy holiday. My mind pulses with the cookies I haven't made, the gifts I haven't wrapped yet, the caroling I always think would be such a great idea to do but never get around to. Sigh.

But you know what? It all gets done, well most of it anyway. What doesn't get done probably isn't that important anyway. This year I'm trying to remember what IS important and let some of the other things go. I'm going to sit back and wrap up some gratitude along with everything else. I'm going to stop and take a breath and inhale everything inspiring that the season has to offer. I'm going to be like those "who's" down in "who-ville", who have no trees or treasures but are still smiling. And maybe this is one thing on the list I actually will get done!!

But there is a way to embrace change and use it as an opportunity, we’ll show you how.
The Power of Why
Give the Gift of Your Presence
by: Kim Howie
This time of year typically offers us more opportunities to spend quality time with our family and friends.  Yet, are we fully present during those interactions?

We tend to be so busy thinking about what needs to be done that we don't take the time to stop and enjoy the holiday season.  If we're not shopping and preparing for the many special occasions, then we're mentally absorbed in the act of scanning the to-do list and beating ourselves up for not accomplishing enough.

We often find ourselves trying to simply survive the holidays rather than taking time to find joy in the moments that make up the holiday season.  Keeping on top of our long to-do list creates added stress in our lives.  Being mindful is key to increasing joy in our lives, and joy is the antidote to stress!

This year we encourage you to take time to be aware of when you are not fully present in the moment, and actively make the choice to give the gift of your full presence to your family and friends.  Let go of the stress created by the desire for perfection and truly be present in each and every moment of this magical season!
