May is Older Americans Month

Village Without Walls encourages individuals and communities to reflect on the countless contributions that older adults make to our lives and the nation. This year’s theme, “Make Your Mark,” highlights the difference everyone can make—in the lives of older adults, in support of caregivers, and to strengthen communities. Are you or someone you know experiencing isolation or loneliness?

Isolation and loneliness can be dangerous for seniors anytime, but right now the stakes are higher than ever. The Oregon Senior Peer Outreach Line (1-833-736-4676; se habla español) and the Oregon Senior Loneliness Line (503-200-1633) are available at any time for older adults experiencing loneliness and isolation.

And finally... a little humor for our times.

From Village volunteer Maureen O’Rourke:
crow on a fence
“I put out a fake crow on our fence just to see what the real crows would do! They squawked a lot but didn’t attack it. After about an hour, it started to rain so I brought the fake crow back inside. The real crows then came and ate those peanuts.”

That's it for this week. Stay home, stay healthy!
