GRANTS FROM WELLS FARGO FOUNDATION AND UNION BANK HELP LOCAL RESIDENTS WHOSE EMPLOYMENT HAS BEEN IMPACTED BY COVID-19 SHOP OUR CERTIFIED FARMERS MARKETS

July 2, 2020- PALM SPRINGS-

Local residents whose employment has been impacted by Covid-19 can now receive matching funds when shopping at the Palm Springs Certified Farmers’ Market, thanks to grants from the Wells Fargo Foundation and Union Bank. The CFM Market Covid-19 Relief Program begins on

“One of our foundational goals as a community resource is to make healthy, locally-grown food affordable for everyone in the Coachella Valley. These funds create a new method to fulfill that promise, at a time when it’s critically needed.” - Megan Goehring, Manager of the Certified Farmers’ Markets of the Coachella Valley

Individuals interested in participation need to provide proof of their unemployment status - either the bank card issued from the State of California Employment Development Department or the unemployment insurance award letter issued at time of enrollment - and photo ID. Those who qualify can present the documents to the onsite Certified Farmers Market facilitator. Once confirmed, each week participants can receive $10 in free Market Buck currency when they purchase $10 in Market Bucks, until the grant funds are expended. These Market Bucks can be used for any purchase at the CFMCV’s and do not have an expiration date.

The Wells Fargo/Union Bank Covid-19 Relief funds are only the latest in the CFMCV’s ongoing matching fund programs. Customers enrolled in WIC, EBT/Calfresh and SSDI are also eligible for weekly $10/$10 matching funds. Please see the onsite Market facilitator for more details.

The Summer Certified Farmers Market inside the Palm Springs Pavilion is open every Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - 401 S. Pavilion Way, adjacent to the PS Public Swim Center. COVID-19 physical distancing protocols are in place, including mandatory “no-touch” concierge shopping and required facial covering. Customers who arrive without a face mask will not be admitted to the market under any circumstance, and customers wearing facial coverings improperly will be asked to adjust them or leave. We appreciate your support and adherence to the rules in order to keep the Market safe and operating.
