Spinnaker SC Open 17th September

Regatta Fleet is now full, but there are places remaining in Main Fleet.  Click here for details.
This is the last event in the Series.  We have some fantastic prizes to hand out, including 2 stunning new trophies for the Series winners, and some great Rooster® kit.

Zone Championships 24/25 September

Entry closes on Sunday, 18th.
Calling all Regatta Fleet sailors!  Come and join us in Weymouth next weekend.  This event is run by the RYA, and usually has around 200 sailors from optimists, toppers, fevas and windsurfers.
The RYA this year have agreed to put a full racing Regatta Fleet. However, this is dependent on a sufficient number of sailors and RIBs.
Please support the event this year, by signing up your sailors for Regatta Fleet, so we can make this a regular event in the sailing calendar.  When entering, select "Regatta Optimist".
If you can help by providing a RIB for Regatta Fleet, please contact Duncan West.

The training on 1st October is now open for entry.  Links below.  The qualifying events for Zone Squad are: Plus, you must apply on the RYA website.  Details about the Zone Squad weekends are on the RYA site here.

Girls Oppie Camp

24 girls spent 3 days at Parkstone Yacht Club, camping out in the bunkhouse, watersliding at Splashdown, and doing something very messy with spaghetti and marshmallows.  Lots of fun and some great training and racing.

Get Involved

For the last year, IOCA South has not had an Area Rep.  So, to reduce the amount that any one person needs to do, we have split the role up into 4.  Gillian Schonrock has taken on the role of Treasurer.  Huge thanks to Ian Cole for running the Spinnaker training, and we are now looking for someone to take over this role.  We are also looking for 2 more people to join us:
  • Spinnaker Training.  Book the venue, hire coaches, manage entries, and co-ordinate the training.
  • Newsletters.   Create and send out newsletters, just like this one.
  • Events.  Co-Ordinate the Southern Traveller Series and Area Champs.  You don't need to run the events themselves, just co-ordinate with the event organisers and sponsor, sort out series prizes etc.
Neither role will take up much time, or require any special skills or experience.  Click here for more details.
