Our monthly communication to Supporters and friends of The Ethics Institute
Issue 120 | April 2021
The monthly communication to Supporters and friends of the institute where we publish articles and thought pieces by TEI subject matter experts, share our exciting training and events calendar, and acknowledge the certification of ethics officers.
Can one swallow make a summer?
In the April 2021 lead article, Liezl Groenewald elaborates on how the establishment of a funded "whistleblower protection organisation" could benefit South African whistleblowers holistically.
Combining ethics and compliance:
A systems psychodynamic inquiry into practices and outcomes
For this month's issue, Prof Mias de Klerk from the University of Stellenbosch Business School contributed a fascinating article titled: "Combining ethics and compliance".
This article is based on an analytical study defining the general practices and outcomes that "combining ethics and compliance" have on our unconscious psychological processes responsible for shaping our thinking.
TEI wants to thank Prof de Klerk for his continued and loyal support of TEI's vision, and more specifically, his contribution to the April 2021 newsletter.
TEI is proud to present the Ethics Ambassador Handbook - the 8th handbook in the TEI Ethics Handbook Series, authored by Dr Paul Vorster and Ms Fatima Rawat.
Ethics ambassador programmes have become a popular method for enhancing the ethical culture of organisations, as well as further improving the reach and effectiveness of the ethics management function.
In essence, the Ethics Ambassador Handbook provides the Ethics Officer (or person responsible for ethics in the organisation) with a step-by-step guide to easily implement these initiatives. We believe that this handbook will add value and make the process of instituting an ethics ambassador less complicated.
Congratulations to Dr Paul Vorster and Fatima Rawat for their valuable contribution to the
ethics management field.
TEI is excited to announce that the 2021 application period for our fourth Ethics Initiative of the Year Awards has officially opened.
This year, your Expression of Interest must include (i) a simplified completed application form and (ii) a short video clip, voice recording, or Powerpoint Presentation outlining the outcomes of your ethics initiative.
The three most innovative submissions will be invited for presentation at the Ethics Officer Learning Forum on 10 September 2021, where delegates will vote for the ultimate winner.
