King Committee guidance

The King Committee on Corporate Governance, recently released guidance notes on three critical governance focus areas in South Africa.

EFFECTIVE STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF REMUNERATION

Addressing the matter of apparent ineffective stakeholder engagement, this guidance paper provides direction to governing bodies and remuneration committees for enhancing dialogue with key stakeholders.

CORPORATE FAILURES AND LESSONS LEARNT

Notwithstanding the premise that a governing body has a duty to act with due care and in the best interest of the organisation, there are instances where an alert to a potential governance failure goes unchecked. This guidance paper considers several governance red flags that should focus the awareness of the governing body and improve corporate governance practices.

20th Annual BEN-Africa Conference: Inclusive and Principled Business: Ethical Values; African Stakeholders

Please join BEN-Africa for their annual hybrid conference in Swakopmund on 4 and 5 November 2021.  The conference promises well-known speakers such as Prof Thuli Madonsela, the Mayor of Swakopmund, Prof Kemi Ogunyemi and Escher Luanda who will speak on relevant and current topics.  Other names to look out for are Prof Willie Esterhuyse, who will engage with Athol Williams regarding his whistleblower experience.
