Bush Gothic
Winner of prestigious Golden Fiddle Award, Jenny Thomas, in her trio “Bush Gothic” reclaim lost Australian cultural territory by re-telling tales of Australia’s dark history with very original, haunting and musically inventive arrangements of early Australian songs. Stories of criminal women and convict men, treachery and transportation are dragged out of the songbooks, ripped apart and lovingly put back together, as a reminder that our history never leaves us.

Dall'Italia All'Australia (From Italy to Australia)
Italian film director Angelo Drovetti’s 1924 silent film Dall'Italia All'Australia (From Italy to Australia) screened with a live music accompaniment provided by 4 piece band “I Viaggiatori” (The Voyagers). The work is regarded by many as the most comprehensive film ever made of a migrant voyage. It chronicles the voyage of the passenger steam ship Regina d’Italia (Queen of Italy) during an epic 8,000-nautical-mile, seven-week world odyssey from Genoa to Australia, by way of Egypt and Sri Lanka. The film features fascinating footage of each port and city including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Exotic Lives of Lola Montez
In conjunction with Regional Arts Victoria, MAC Inc. will present 'The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez" by Finucane & Smith on Thursday 10th August.

The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez
Finucane & Smith
From Patrick White Playwright Award Winner Jackie Smith & world famous cabaret stars Finucane & Smith comes the story of the wildest showgirl of the nineteenth century. Lola Montez.
She horsewhipped the editor of the Ballarat Times (for a bad review). Swung down mineshafts on a single rope with champagne in hand. Escaped arrest dressed only in her jewels. Showered with gold nuggets and insults. Swathed in scandal. Her erotic Spider Dance was “the most libertinish and indelicate performance that could be given on the public stage" (Sydney Morning Herald 1855).
In 1855 the wildest showgirl of the nineteenth century, Lola Montez, toured Australia & its goldfields.
The scandal is legend.
From award winning creators of the smash-hit national touring legend Caravan Burlesque, the internationally adored Glory Box and the haunting drama The Flood, comes a brand new drama decked in couture black lace, a thousand true lies, jaw-dropping dance, multi-award winning storytelling, sultry song and a death scene or three.
The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez.
Starring triple Best Actress Winner (and direct descendant of Lola herself!) Miss Caroline Lee and Parisian dance siren Holly Durant, directed by the international Queen of Provocative Variety Moira Finucane, Lola is a wildly contemporary dreamscape steeped in Australian history and the extraordinary lives & freedom of one of the world’s most adventurous women. Created in partnership with Her Majesty's Ballarat

In conjunction with Regional Arts Victoria, MAC Inc. is pleased to present "The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez" on Thursday 10th August at Barooga Sporties.

MAC Inc. with Regional Arts Victoria are proud to present Miles & Simone.
Miles and Simone are like Johnny Cash and June Carter (if Johnny Cash and June Carter had grown up in a small Victorian seaside town).
Set in the folk/country tradition and maintaining at their core an Australian feel both in lyrics and laconic style, Miles & Simone's songs cast a spell of lonesome roads and oceans filled with heartbreak, and in between songs, create lovely comic moments with jokes and storytelling, ensuring the night is both beautiful and FUN!
14th July Strathmerton Public Hall

In conjunction with Regional Arts Victoria MAC Inc. proudly presents The Crow Family.
A women lives in the middle of the city, next to a tree that smells of lemons. In this tree lives a family of crows, but their home is threatened by developers looking to build inner city apartments where factories and shops used to be. One day, the child of the crows falls from the nest. As nigh falls, the neighbourhood cats move in for the kill. The women intervenes and her encounter with the crows and their child transforms her life and ultimately transforms her.
Told by a real life family the Craw Family is a gentle, intimate, and beautiful music performance event about remarkable creatures and what makes us human.

MAC Inc. with Regional Arts Victoria presents Mystery in the Air.
Take a couple of hilariously antiquated radio plays; add two somewhat over-stressed actors and
you’re ON THE AIR with Mystery In The Air!

This is the show that transports audiences back to the style, the fashion and - let’s face it - the sheer political incorrectness of the 1940s. Of course, back in those days, such luxuries as a proper cast and a sound effects department were the norm, but in these economically stringent times, it’s all down to just our boys - costumes, sound effects, scene changes, music, voices - they’ll do the lot. It’s a big ask, and occasionally they might even succeed.

Starring Michael Veitch and Simon Oats, the results are sure to be hilarious.

More than 300 people enjoyed music provided by the 19-piece Rathdowne Street Big Band from Melbourne at Thompsons Beach on Sunday 19th February..
The concert was a great social event in the beautiful setting of Thompsons Beach on the Murray River where people relaxed listening to the music and many people danced on the portable dance floor provided.
The event was the second Big Band concert hosted by the Rotary Club of Cobram to raise funds for Cobram’s aged care facility ‘Ottrey Lodge’ renovations and rebuild project.
The popularity of the band’s music despite a couple of light showers and the enthusiasm of the musicians indicated that the band may return next year.
