Much Ado About Nothing.
After this year's performance of "Romeo & Juliet", Essential Theatre are returning by popular demand to present their new production of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing"..
Make a note of the date - 5th February 2017.
The venue will be  the picturesque gardens of Byramine Homestead.

Essential Theatre are so very proud to be celebrating 15 years of producing
“Shakespeare in the Vines”.
They will mark this momentous occasion by revisiting the play that started it all -

Much Ado About Nothing.

This witty, romantic and playful tale will be directed by the company’s Co Artistic Director, Amanda LaBonte. Amanda has a wealth of experience producing and performing with the company and promises to bring a fresh eye to this production. Joining the creative team this summer is Designer, Amaya Vecellio. Essential Theatre’s production takes place in rural Australia in the mid 19th Century. The design will be responding to the Australian backdrop that has become synonymous with Essential Theatre’s tour.

“Some Cupid kills with arrows, some with traps.”

After victory in battle, Don Pedro leads his soldiers, including the dashing young Claudio and the clever wordsmith Benedick, to the home of Leonato.  The soldiers are greeted warmly by Leonato and his charming daughter Hero and consequently invited to stay.  Leonato’s witty niece Beatrice engages in a merry war of words with Benedick both proclaiming their scorn for love, marriage and each other. In contrast, Claudio and Hero meeting for the first time, are instantly lovestruck and are quickly betrothed.
However the bastard brother of Don Pedro, Don John, devises a meddling plan to mess with the unfolding romance.  Lovers are deceived and happiness is threatened.
Dogberry and Verges, the comical night watchmen, appear just in time, ensuring that good will defeat all evil!
Much Ado About Nothing is a timeless tale of two pairs of lovers - and the people who want them to be together, and the people who try to rip them apart.
Under the setting sun, MAC Inc. and Essential Theatre invites you to relax in the picturesque gardens of Byramine Homestead and join in the delight of this colourful and charming comedy that is Much Ado About Nothing.

It chronicles the voyage of the passenger steam ship Regina d’Italia (Queen of Italy) during an epic 8,000-nautical-mile, seven-week world odyssey from Genoa to Australia, by way of Egypt and Sri Lanka. The film features fascinating footage of each port and city including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Exotic Lives of Lola Montez.
In conjunction with Regional Arts Victoria, MAC Inc. will present 'The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez" by Finucane & Smith on Thursday 10th August.

The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez
Finucane & Smith
From Patrick White Playwright Award Winner Jackie Smith & world famous cabaret stars Finucane & Smith comes the story of the wildest showgirl of the nineteenth century. Lola Montez.

She horsewhipped the editor of the Ballarat Times (for a bad review). Swung down mineshafts on a single rope with champagne in hand. Escaped arrest dressed only in her jewels. Showered with gold nuggets and insults. Swathed in scandal. Her erotic Spider Dance was “the most libertinish and indelicate performance that could be given on the public stage" (Sydney Morning Herald 1855).

In 1855 the wildest showgirl of the nineteenth century, Lola Montez, toured Australia & its goldfields.

The scandal is legend.

From award winning creators of the smash-hit national touring legend Caravan Burlesque, the internationally adored Glory Box and the haunting drama The Flood, comes a brand new drama decked in couture black lace, a thousand true lies, jaw-dropping dance, multi-award winning storytelling, sultry song and a death scene or three.

The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez.

Starring triple Best Actress Winner (and direct descendant of Lola herself!) Miss Caroline Lee and Parisian dance siren Holly Durant, directed by the international Queen of Provocative Variety Moira Finucane, Lola is a wildly contemporary dreamscape steeped in Australian history and the extraordinary lives & freedom of one of the world’s most adventurous women. Created in partnership with Her Majesty's Ballarat

In conjunction with Regional Arts Victoria MAC Inc. is pleased to present The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez on Thursday 10th August.
