The Macedonian Scientific Society for Autism and Target Autism pull together to spread positive approaches in Skopje

20 parents of children with autism participated on the first parent training sessions in Skopje (FYR of Macedonia) entitled “Positive approaches to autism” and held on March 19th and 20th, aimed to teach parents about the management of challenging behavior. The training was delivered by Angela Capper and Ron Fortuna from Target Autism (UK) together with shadow trainers and special needs teachers from the Macedonian Scientific Society for Autism (MSSA).

ESIPP partners teach Croatian parents positive approaches to autism

20 Croatian parents of children with autism participated in the first parent training sessions in order to acquire a first positive approach to autism as well as to learn how to manage challenging behaviour. The training, which was delivered by ESIPP partners Angela Winstanley and Nefi Charalambous-Darden from the Autism Assessment Support Practice (AASP) organisation based in Limassol, Cyprus, aimed to deliver practical advice and guidance for parents on how to support their children.

Parents from all across Cyprus come together for the first ESIPP training session

On March 19th, more than 20 parents of children with autism had the opportunity to participate in the first training session delivered by ESIPP partners Nefi Charalambous-Darden and Angela Winstanley from the Autism Assessment Support Practice educational centre in Limassol, Cyprus. There, parents could acquire a positive approach to autism as well as help to manage challenging behaviour.

ESIPP partners pass the baton for autism on World Autism Awareness Day

On World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), partners of the ESIPP project join Autism-Europe in passing the baton ahead to support the respect, acceptance and inclusion of persons with autism. The objective is to challenge people to better understand what it is like to live with autism, providing a platform to shift the focus from mere “awareness” to “acceptance” of autism. People are invited to raise awareness on social media and during events by symbolically passing a relay baton to promote greater inclusion and participation of people with autism in society.

ESIPP partner Centar za Autizam celebrates World Autism Awareness Day in Zagreb

In early April the Centar za Autizam (CZA), one of the Croatian partners of the project, organised numerous activities in several areas of Zagreb such as squares, schools, museums, libraries, etc. on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day. CZA students, service-users and employees had the opportunity to show their knowledge and accomplishments in a friendly environment during the different activities carried out.

ESIPP partner Prof. Trajkovski spreads the word about the project in Macedonia

On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), Prof. Dr. Vladimir Trajkovski, president of the Macedonian Scientific Society for Autism (MSSA) and lead partner of the ESIPP project, presented the aims, progress and achievements made by this European project in a series of interviews given to different Macedonian media outlets.

Media gives voice to ESIPP partners to report on the latest developments in the project in Croatia

The Equity and Social Inclusion through Positive Parenting project (ESIPP) has not gone unnoticed by the media in Croatia, which highlights the role of Centar za Autizam and the University of Zagreb in the education of children with autism in this country.

The project’s third transnational meeting will be held on June in the FYR of Macedonia, hosted by the Macedonian Scientific Society for Autism (MSSA). The following day, participants in the first parent training sessions in Skopje will have the opportunity to meet again.
