Highways.Today Newsletter

13 May 2021

Welcome to another Highways.Today newsletter.

This week the news trend has been the race to Net Zero in construction.

CIRIA, the Construction Industry Research and Information Association is hosting a debate on the 9th June 2021 to hear leading experts discuss how construction is rising to the challenge of net zero carbon.

Meanwhile JCB is winning awards for their all-electric construction equipment, while Volvo Construction Equipment is putting their loaders and excavators to the test in the Californian desert.

An all electric future will require a new form of power station, with huge banks of batteries to store power from conventional and renewable sources for on-demand use, for houses, business, electric cars, and electric construction equipment. Expert manufacturing consultancy HSSMI is calling for immediate action to build these Gigafactories to support our race to Net Zero.

Thanks again and stay safe.
