An IMPORTANT UPDATE: A New National Service Trust for the community of Open Brethren and Open Brethren Heritage churches and Support Ministries in New Zealand
Kaikoura Earthquake Update

Recently, the people of Kaikoura suffered the devastating effects of severe earthquakes. In our December update, we invited you and your church family to consider giving a financial gift (through GC3 Aid) to the people of Kaikoura, a gift that the Kaikoura Gospel Assembly would distribute in the wider community. Information on that giving is currently being collated, and when that task is done, we'll report back to you.

Pathways Graduation
Nerve’s. Excitement. Joy! On Friday  9th of December, Pathways College held it’s annual Graduation Ceremony.  What a delight to worship with over 300 people, friends and family, who had come to support and encourage the young graduates. It was a wonderful celebration of the goodness of God and the growth in Christ of the graduates.

For Pathways principal, Craig Barrow, graduation is always a special time. “I'm always humbled to see the incredible spiritual growth of our students. It's a big deal. And I love to see them celebrate all that God has done over their time with us."

Samoan Gathering

“Equip to Harvest”
Conference, Manurewa Life Church, Jan 13th-16th

When leaders gather from across the Samoan CCCNZ churches in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific, you know you’ll get three things: amazing hospitality,  great food, and harmonised bi-lingual singing.  Marvelous!

More importantly, there was a clear call to take the gospel to this nation and to the ends of the earth. During the “Equip to Harvest” Conference, practical sessions were held on local church planting and international church planting.

Russell Thorp (Missions director of GC3) attended the conference and had this to say: "It was great to be led through vision, inspirational worship and teaching. And being involved in church planting sessions encouraging mission from everywhere to everywhere, was exciting. Great to meet so many new church planters!"
Lake Learning: TAUPO
From 17th-24th of January, young adults from across our churches came together to dig deep into the Bible. Life-change was bound to happen, and it did. This year, dozens enjoyed a curriculum of Old and New Testament overviews, apologetics, and evangelism.

Chris Kellym, the Youth Pastor at Te Awamutu Bible Chapel, was one of the speakers and had this to say “I can think of no better way for young people to gather together and dive deep into the word of God.”

Pray for our Church Planters

Throughout New Zealand, small numbers of men and women are answering a very specific call of God: to plant new churches, filled with people who were not followers of Christ.

As you can imagine, this kind of work can be extremely demanding.  It simply cannot be done without special assistance from God.

So, pray for these servants. Ask that the Spirit of God would work through the Gospel as these church planters love, serve and speak into their communities. Here are some of the people who need your prayer support:

Evangelism Scholarships
The David Bay* Evangelism Scholarship is a targeted support available to students from CCCNZ churches who choose to make evangelism a significant focus in their Christian studies. Special consideration will be given to supporting evangelists who intend to serve among our denominational network.

All applications for this scholarship will be treated as enquiries and should be sent to Mark Grace, markgrace@cccnz.nz.  Mark will then forward them on to the Scholarship’s Trustees for consideration.

*David Bay has a long history of serving in the Dairying Industry and wider community. He was a Justice of the Peace, and was twice honored by the Queen.

Rongopai Magazine
We hope you enjoyed Rongopai, our new magazine. Mark Hunter is working on the next edition which is on Church Planting. To receive the latest edition of Rongopai, it’s crucial that you subscribe! Go to http://www.cccnz.nz/page/rongopai/

We are also looking for people to distribute Rongopai in each church. It’s an easy but important job: we’ll post magazines to a local distributor who will then place them in their church’s newsletters.

If you are keen to be your church's distributor, contact Sheri on office@cccnz.nz

Regional Conferences

Given the array of conferences available to us, why would we attend the CCCNZ Regional Conference? Because the topic for this year’s conference is fundamental and crucial: How do we place scripture at the centre of our lives? The speaker, Nigel Pollock, is world class and the format will give you and your people plenty of space to reflect, pray and process together.

There are other important upsides
  1. You’ll hear talks that help you place scripture at the center of your life and ministry
  2. You’ll learn how to practically read the Bible with someone younger than yourself
  3. You’ll share meals with those in similar ministries to you
  4. You’ll hear how a range of Support Ministries can serve you and your church
  5. You’ll unpack how the content applies to your local church
  6. You’ll learn what God is doing in your region
We are aiming for a simple but deeply significant time together. We’d love you to join us at the Regional Conferences, so if there’s any way we can help you and your church family join us, let us know.
