CRRA Conference

If you’re attending, tune in on Wednesday, August 19th at 1:30pm to see the presentation. Welcome South San Francisco Scavenger and Stanislaus County!

We’d like to give a warm welcome to the newest members of the Recyclist family: South San Francisco Scavenger and Stanislaus County! We’re happy to be helping these passionate teams of dedicated municipal recycling professionals manage their programs more efficiently, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together!
Lauren Tango Joins Recyclist as our
Junior Data Engineer!

Lauren majored in Environmental Studies with a minor in Geographic Information Science at Utah State University. For the past two years she has worked as a research assistant and GIS tech for a “Mesoscale Data Fusion [project] to Map and Model the U.S. Food-Energy-Water system”. She enjoys seeing new places, playing in the outdoors on rivers, mountain peaks, and rocks, but is also passionate about working to protect the beautiful places in the world she loves so much.
Program Tracker Can Now Track AB 827 Compliance

Upon the request of several customers, the Recyclist Program Tracker now offers tracking for AB 827. This bill requires businesses covered by AB 341 and/or AB 1826 to provide customers with recycling and/or organics containers that are visible, easily accessible, adjacent to trash containers, and clearly marked with educational signage.

Tracking which businesses are compliant with the new regulation can now be done easily within the Program Tracker. We’ve rolled out the new feature to the customers who initially requested it, and will continue to roll it out to the rest of our customers on up-to-date agreements shortly.
New Recycling Guide Items

If you are a current customer and have any questions about the items, please visit your Admin Dashboard for more information or contact Dan Alvey at New guide items can be requested at anytime via the Content Portal.

Request for Industry Referrals

Recyclist relies heavily on in-person meetings, conferences, and events to meet potential customers and learn more about what the industry needs. Now that almost everything has gone virtual, we’re trying to come up with ways to connect with others in the industry.

To help our business continue to grow and learn, we’ve decided to reach out to our friends, colleagues, and customers for assistance. If you have ideas, connections, or meetings that Recyclist may be a good fit for, we’d really appreciate it.  Invitations or recommendations to your local JPA or TAC meetings, introductions to neighboring municipalities or waste haulers that may benefit from our products, or even just ideas on branching out are all welcome. Do you know of any colleagues, cities, counties, haulers that may specifically be interested in a Recyclist product?

Rest assured, Recyclist isn’t going anywhere. Our customers keep our engines running! We are just eager to continue our current growth trajectory, so we can have an even greater positive impact on the waste and recycling industry. That means helping more communities learn how to recycle and helping more solid waste program managers stay organized and on top of their work.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. We look forward to meeting your counterparts throughout the rest of California (and maybe even out of state!).
We Are Hiring!

Recyclist is looking for a freelance writer and editor to assist us in reviewing our existing and future content with the goal of broadening the accessibility and effectiveness of our recycling education content. Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Environmental Justice
  • Solid Waste and Recycling
  • Working with Underserved Communities
  • Diversity and Inclusion Strategies
  • Writing for Government

Recyclist has been constantly adapting to the new normal. Between exercising new connection strategies, adding new features and guide items, and staying on top of requests, we definitely are not just sitting around! We are so grateful to have a hardworking and cohesive team during a time when the world feels unstable. Our Senior Project Manager, Sara McCadden, is also due to bring in another member to the Recyclist team any day now, and our recent socially-distanced baby shower for her was a breath of fresh air. We wish you all well and hope to talk more soon.

If you’d like more frequent updates and information from us, follow us on LinkedIn! We post on all industry topics throughout the week.

Stay well,
The team at Recyclist
