#NoCopAcademy is a grassroots campaign launched by a coalition of organizations to mobilize against Rahm Emanuel’s plans to spend $95 million for a massive training center for Chicago police in West Garfield Park. This piece highlights the ways young people are at the forefront of one of the most pressing issues in Chicago. Schools for kids, not cops.

Chi DNA Micro-Doc Ep. 2 | Art in Activism
The second episode in Chi DNA's micro-doc series explores the role of art in activism and the importance of telling one's authentic narrative creatively in speaking truth to power. The Chicago Drill and Activism feature documentary and cross-platform, multimedia project explores the creation, meaning, perspectives, and connections between drill rap and the resurgence of grassroots activism since the early 2010s through the eyes of the people involved. Out of the Box: A SoapBox Celebration & Showcase Held on February 24, 2018, Out of the Box was a night of art, film, live performances, radical thought, and connection amongst Chicago's hard-working filmmakers, creatives, activists, and social entrepreneurs. This event exhibited SoapBox’s past and recent projects as well as raised funds to continue our work and develop our infrastructure. Please support us here.
True/False Film Festival
We were delighted to co-lead a creative workshop at the True/False Film Festival in March with the wonderfulPearl Quick. This was a four-day journey working with the high school students of Camp True/False on telling their authentic narratives through relationship-building and poetry, culminating in a two or three-voice poem at the end of the weekend.
