These last few days have been tough, and for a community like ours, the idea of “social distancing” and hunkering down in our homes is at odds with every bit of who we are as a city. In moments of difficulty, Indy comes together - for a reassuring cup of coffee, for an uplifting night with friends, for a chance to make a difference with a local nonprofit or cause close to our hearts.
But today, our city needs you more than ever. We need you to stay home whenever possible to help slow the spread of COVID-19. We need you to reach out to friends, family and neighbors over the phone or through video conferencing to help combat the loneliness that is sure to accompany a moment like this. And we need you to be creative on how to continue building community in safe and healthy ways.
Take to social media.
Hear a great story about someone in our community stepping up? Share it. See a resource or article that could be helpful to our neighbors? Retweet it. And for fun, hop on these hashtag trains, participate in conversations, and continue spotlighting why you love our city.
Support local businesses.
Order your favorite dish to go, buy a gift card to treat your future self, or make a purchase online to be delivered to your door. See Edible Indy's map included at the bottom of this bulletin.
Send a note of gratitude.
What makes this city so great is our people. Send a message to first responders that are working extra hard to keep our lives as normal as possible.
Complete the census.
Decisions about Indy's future come down to counting everyone, especially you. Fill out your household’s census online today.

WOW! That's Engineering! Jr. 2020 - Postponed
Given the evolving COVID-19 situation in an abundance of caution we have decided to postpone the event. This is to ensure we are not exposing attendees and volunteers to any unnecessary risk and is in line with the recent guidelines at our event location of IUPUI.
As a group who strives to empower and educate the next generation of female engineers we do not take this decision lightly, but do believe given the current situation it is best to take extra caution.
For the latest on COVID-19 recommendations please refer to the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization as you make decisions for your own plans. You can also visit the Indiana State Department of Health’s website.
Currently we are targeting having the postponed event on Saturday 02May2020. However, as mentioned, the COVID-19 situation is evolving therefore we will be continuing to monitor the situation.

Message from the Indiana State Museum: At the direction of the governor and following recommendations from the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), all 12 locations of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites will be temporarily closed beginning March 17 in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.
At this time, all scheduled programs and events through the end of April will also be canceled or rescheduled, and registered attendees will be notified. Unfortunately, this timeframe includes the upcoming TinkerFest planned for March 28. A new date for TinkerFest will be announced soon!
Thank you to everyone who made our annual fundraiser a success. This year we raised $2200 which will be invested back into our community via scholarships and events for Hoosiers. We could not have done it without the support of our corporate sponsors, silent auction sponsors, and everyone who attended.
With COVID-19 pushing so many teams in tech to work from home, it's important to ensure the mental state of folks is taken care of. By incorporating socialization and reminders to take breaks we can do that: https://meetcafecito.com/
If you are looking for a temporary work space, Switchboard (735 Shelby St, Indianapolis, IN 46203) is offering $35/ week weekly passes for anyone looking for a space for short term use. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Many local businesses who can not afford to lose their income are adjusting to the current situation. Gift cards, delivery, curbside pick up, free or low cost shipping… all are ways we can support our Central Indiana community. edible Indy has compiled a list on their website.
With many STEM outreach events - even some of SWE-CI's run events - being cancelled SWE-CI has compiled some resources to help ensure students still have access to engaging material. This document has a number of resources for low/no cost at home science activities and is also editable and shareable so feel free to add your own resources. We also understand that this time of uncertainty can sometimes be concerning in particular for young children. If desired, here is a great overview of COVID-19 for children.
