Strengths Finder Professional Development Workshop

On Feb 24, SWE-CI hosted an interactive PD workshop led by JoDee Curtis, Gallup Certified Strengths coach, owner and founder of PurpleInk LLC. JoDee helped us learn about our strengths, their benefits, and the "dark side" of our strengths that can be our worst enemies. We hope you use your strengths and what you learned in the workshop to achieve your personal best. Thank you for making our Strengths Finder Workshop a success!

Engineer's Day at the Children's Museum

CIS-IEEE hosted Engineer's Day at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis on February 25, providing 250+ kids and their families with the opportunity to learn about engineering through hands-on activities. This year, SWE-CI led an activity called Helping Hands, challenging kids to create a device that allows them to pick up different objects. We asked them to use their imagination to think about what they could design and build for someone that couldn't use their hands, a real-world challenge that engineers work on every day!

CyberBlue Receives SWE Grant

Visit with Cyber Blue Team

On February 22, members of the SWE-CI Board met with the Cyber Blue FIRST Robotics team from Perry Meridian High School and received an inside look at their design, development and build process. In case you were not aware, FIRST® has a national strategic alliance relationship with the Society of Women Engineers.  Together, we collaborate on outreach opportunities, public policy issues and many other joint initiatives for the advancement and recognition of women in engineering and technology.
For the past three years, in conjunction with the Motorola Foundation, SWE and FIRST have collaborated on providing FIRST Robotics Competition teams with registration grants based upon their concerted efforts in recruiting and maintaining gender equity within their ranks.  These teams, on their own, have created and implemented impressive diversity programs to ensure that diversity and inclusion are an integral part of their team charter. This year, Cyber Blue was a recipient of a SWE grant. Congrats Cyber Blue!!
