Beers and Volunteers is a one-day, public event that showcases Indianapolis’ wonderful nonprofits in action. SWE-CI will have a booth with a STEM activity that's fun for all ages, and prizes for winners of our STEM contest. The organization with the most people in attendance will get a charitable contribution from Sun King, so please sign up and show us your support! Please RSVP and mention SWE-CI!

The SWE-Central Indiana and SWE Purdue sections are partnering with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana for Circle the City! This annual event will expose middle school Girl Scouts to a variety of fun activities during their exploration and overnight stay at the Indiana State Museum. Our SWE sections will host a joint booth with a STEM oriented activity. When: October 19th, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Where: Indianapolis State Museum
Volunteers needed for a "Girl Power" workshop, Oct 26th!
Cold Spring School is hosting a “Girl Power” workshop on October 26, 2019 from 1:00-4:00. This event is designed to offer information and inspiration for young women to explore the world of STEM. The group is looking for community partners and volunteers who may be willing to help with the following:
-Volunteers or Organizations to work “activity” tables in which girls take an active part in experiencing something that is STEM related.
-Volunteers or Organizations to offer “Talk It Out” and “Ask Me Anything” for girls to hear about careers and opportunities in the STEM field.
-Monetary donations to facilitate cost of activities at tables, and door prizes, etc.: i.e. Circuits and LED light creations, Water weighted Hula Hoops, Etc.
-A keynote speaker to talk for 10-15 at kickoff.
International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory Technical Talk
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Society of Women Engineers-Central Indiana Section (SWE-CI), and the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory invite you to a unique event on October 29, 2019 to discover how the state of Indiana is helping to improve life on Earth through space-based research onboard the ISS. Together with NASA, the ISS National Laboratory is enabling research and development in key areas such as industrial biomedicine and advanced materials that will drive the low Earth economy and push the boundaries of innovation for the benefit of life on Earth.
This event is open to the public and will feature speakers including ISS National Laboratory Director of Scientific Partnering Dr. Kenneth Savin and Eli Lilly and Co. Research Scientist Jeremy J. Hinds, who will highlight Indiana’s involvement in space-based research and discuss how Hoosier companies are leveraging the unique environment onboard the ISS National Laboratory to directly impact those back on the ground.

Join us for our Annual Industry Roundtable, November 1
When: November 1st, ~12:00-1:00 PM Where: Cummins - Indianapolis Downtown Distribution Headquarters (DBU)
SWE-CI will be hosting our annual Industry Roundtable Event on November 1st at the Cummins Distribution Headquarters in Downtown Indianapolis. This year, we have invited some of our local SWE members who have been chosen to give presentations at the Annual Society Conference to give a short version on their topic. Come hear about topics such as “The Art of SWAGing: Making Smart Estimations,” “Why Netflix Is Killing Your Career,” and “Hidden Minefields: Practicing True Empathy.”
