The Plunkett Gate Valve is operable again. The replacement parts were received by our Roach Brothers (our contractor) last Thursday during the snowstorm. With assistance from Bud Hall and the Highway Department staff on Sunday and again today, Roach Brothers arrived first thing this morning, replaced and tested the repairs by Noon, and by 1:30 pm, were on their way back to Barre, MA.
The Gate Valve is open, and the drawdown has resumed under the Conservation Commission's special permit. The Highway Department is coordinating the drawdown with support from Conservation Agent Caleb Mitchell and Earl Moffatt of the Foresight Land Services staff. The DPW will be receiving training from the Foresight Staff on the proper operation, tracking, and maintenance of the system over the next few weeks.
