Saturday, 29 April 2017 - only 5 weeks to go!

Thank You for joining us on the 2017 Surf Coast Trek
and for helping to raise much needed funds.

You've registered, You're training,
You've nearly reached your fundraising goal, which is awesome - with only 5 weeks to go will you reach your target OR will you smash it?

$57,000 has been raised so far.  We need your help to reach the Trek fundraising goal of $250,000.  You're part of something amazing - and every dollar you fundraise counts!

Your fundraising is a crucial element of taking part in the Surf Coast Trek, with all funds raised assisting the vital work of the
Kids Plus Foundation and the Give Where You Live Foundation.
Lets take off
You're nearly there - you can see that fundraising finishing line.  Lets take that final step and run over the line.  Here are some other tips to help your reach (and smash) your goal!
 Make a list
Is there anyone who you haven't targeted?   Anyone you need to follow up?  Work colleagues, friends of friends?  What about the barista, your personal trainer, your partner's workmates?
 Get Social   #SurfCoastTrek
Use social media and email, share a pic of you training, share your story, tell people you're almost there!

We've found that emails work really well so don't forget to email everyone on your list!
Break it down
Work out how much you need to smash your goal.  Tell people how much that is and you never know - you might be surprised who helps you get there - and quickly!  Remember all donations of $2 and over are tax deducible.
Use your team
Get your trekking team or even gather a social team and get them to help your fundraise.  What can you do if you think bigger and extend your networks?  A cake stall, a garage sale, a movie night?  Even just getting others to share your story and fundraising link will help.
Remember to give a personal thank you to every donor.  Why not give them a social media shout out and let everyone know how awesome they are!

Here is what some of our Fundraising

'Goal Smashers' are doing.
Tim Shing, $280
I've spread the word using social media and word of mouth. “I may have extended a few friendships but it’s all for such a good cause.  I'm excited for the personal challenge and happy to be contributing to a good cause with 2 genuine charities."
Nicole Wood, $410
“I am surprised at how easy the fundraising has been so far, I have only sent it out to family and a couple of friends as I'm uncomfortable asking for donations. I am lucky that people have given very generous donations!  I have told people about the Trek (with the fundraising link) and also talked about my training and that gets people interested.“
Determined to Make it, $1,211
As a team member, Deanne has been selling muffins and banana bread at work and in the staff room of her son’s school and is going to extend this to making up salads and sandwiches for teachers.  'I've also emailed family and friends and sent text messages – we reached and exceeded the  fundraising target within 4 days and had to increase our goal.  There is a multitude of things you can do to raise funds – you just need to make it fit within your timeframe. For me, it was easy to send an email and a text message to family and friends.”

Our grantees included: Foundation 61, Bluebird Foundation, The Smith Family, Barwon Centre Against Sexual Assault, The Stroke Assoc, The Outpost, Wathaurong and Riding for the Disabled just to name a few!

Purpose  To deliver specialist multi-disciplinary therapy programs for babies, children and young people with neuro-developmental disabilities, including cerebral palsy, brain injury and stroke.
Focus  To support children and their families maximise their participation and engagement in daily life.
Need  Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. It is a permanent disability that affects movement and control of muscles. Cerebral palsy results from damage to the developing brain, usually before birth. In Australia, a child is born with cerebral palsy every 15 hours. There is no known cure. The impact on a child is specific to each child and interventions need to be individualised. There is strong research evidence for the benefit of early therapeutic intervention both for the child and the parents.
