Trek Talk #7

Waves, pack collection, training and more!

The Surf Coast Trek is just over a month away! We can't wait to Trek 40km from Aireys Inlet to Torquay with you all on Saturday, 28 March.

We've run through some critical Trek information in the email below, so please read this information carefully. Please make sure your team members are also aware of this information.

We'd love to also extend a huge thank you to all of you. So far together we've raised more than $80,000! That's around a third of the way to our target of $250,000, which goes to two Geelong-based Foundations, Kids Plus and Give Where You Live. You can keep an eye on the live tally here.

FlickPT x K Rock Training Tips

Amidst running her own business, Surf Coast Trek Champion Flick has made the time to stop by K Rock to share some training tips for trekkers (and listeners!) One of her top tips? Now is the point in your training where you should start introducing elevation walks and hikes - if you haven't already! Have a listen to her interviews here.
What to expect on the Trek
We've had a few questions lately about what to expect on the Trek. Trekkers follow the Surf Coast Walk path from Aireys Inlet to Torquay. Details here.

The walk takes you through bush, along clifftops and across the beach. There will be dirt paths, gravel, sand, paved path, and yes, steps! More info here.

Make sure you say thank you to your supporters when they donate! After the Trek let people know how you went on the day and with your fundraising challenge. And don't forget to download our fundraising guide for trekkers online here.
How the Waves Work

To ease congestion along the track, we've broken trekkers up into waves of 100 people. When you pick up your Trek pack in March, you'll be given a bib with a number and colour, this indicates the wave you will be in when starting the Trek.

WAVE 1: Red Bib departing at 7.15am
WAVE 2: Blue Bib departing at 7.18am
WAVE 3: Yellow Bib departing at 7.21am
WAVE 4: Green Bib departing at 7.24am
WAVE 5: Purple Bib departing at 7.27am
WAVE 6: Pink Bib departing at 7.30am
WAVE 7: Orange Bib departing at 7.33am
WAVE 8: Light Blue Bib departing at 7.36am
WAVE 9: Light Green Bib departing at 7.39am
WAVE 10: Black Bib departing at 7.42am

Be sure to pencil these dates in your diary for when you can pick up your Trek pack! Trek packs will be ready to collect from the Give Where You Live Foundation office at 18 Myers St, Geelong on:

Friday 6 March: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Tuesday 10 March: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Wednesday 11 March: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Thursday 12 March: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Friday 13 March: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday 14 March: 9:00am - 1:00pm

You MUST collect your Trek pack as it contains your Trek bib and you cannot trek without it. The pack also includes your t-shirt, safety briefing, tote bag and optional Surf Coast Trek cap.

Please note: Trek packs that are getting posted will be sent on Friday, March 6.
