SURF COAST TREK 2017
Saturday, 29 April 2017

(72 days to go!)

$16,600 raised so far. Let's get to $250,000!
Thanks so much for setting up your fundraising page - now it's time to get  fundraising!

The Fundraising Challenge
The Surf Coast Trek is primarily a fundraising event.

Your fundraising is a crucial element of your participation in the Trek and we ask every Trekker to raise the minimum amount of $250. Don't forget you're raising valuable funds for both the Kids Plus Foundation and the Give Where You Live Foundation.

We understand that fundraising can seem quite daunting.
But really, the hardest part is just getting started. And we're here to help!
Our top fundraising tip is simple - Just Ask!

Have you:
- Sent out  an email?
- Shared a post on social media?
- Asked your workmates?
- Considered holding a fundraising event such as a morning tea?

Share your story of why you decided to join the Trek or send around the sample email below. You might be surprised with how generous people are.

Think of it this way - If you ask and 5 people gave a $50 donation, you would  have raise $250!

If you have started your fundraising over the past few days, thank you! You're doing an awesome job!

Here are a few fundraising tips to get you started.

Dear {insert name},

I’m writing to tell you about an amazing challenge I’ll be taking on in April 2017 - the Surf Coast Trek- a 40km trek along the Surf Coast Walk, starting in Airey’s Inlet and finishing in Torquay.

It’s an event that will help raise much needed funds for two of the region’s most valued community organisations- Kids Plus Foundation and the Give Where You Live Foundation.

I’ll be walking the whole 40km distance by myself!
   Or                                       (Select the appropriate sentence).
I’ll be walking as part of a team of 4 {insert team members and/or name of team}, splitting the trek up so that we each walk {insert distances}.
Walking the whole distance will take me/us the best part of 8 hours {or insert your estimated time}.

As well as training for the event I/we are required to fundraise a minimum of $250/$1000 before event day. It would be great if you could support me/us by making a donation via my/our fundraising page.

Please donate here {insert link to your fundraising page here} so that I/my team can reach our goal of raising more than {$ insert your fundraising goal} which will go towards assisting those in need in Geelong and the Surf Coast.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

You can find out more about the event at www.surfcoasttrek.com.au or keep up to date with the event by liking and sharing the Surf Coast Trek Facebook page www.facebook.com/Surfcoasttrek

Trekker Spotlight!
Terri Brown, Team: Jesse's Girls
My team and I signed up to Trek straight away as we missed out last year!  It will be a great opportunity to challenge ourselves as well as raise money for causes very close to our hearts.  My son has been attending Kids Plus for about 18 months, it is the kind of place where you feel very supported – we feel like we’re part of a bigger family.  We are so proud to be able to support them (and Give Where You Live) with the incredible things they do for families like ours.

Our team, Jesse's Girls includes myself, Jesse's two beautiful aunties and his grandmother.  We're looking forward to the physical challenge of the walk itself and also to the community spirit that goes hand in hand with people coming together to support a common cause.

Terri's gorgeous son Jesse

We have shared our goal through social media and it is very exciting that we currently leading the Fundraising Challenge, already having doubled our target (currently at $2.030). We are very grateful to our friends and family for their generosity.
