April - June 2017
Dear ETP4HPC Partners,
The second quarter of 2017 proved to be busy and very eventful. We have immersed ourselves in the work on our next Strategic Research Agenda 2017 (SRA 3), an important milestone in the life of our organisation and which is our main deliverable. Also, during the 2nd edition of European HPC Summit Week (EHPCSW) in May, we organised on behalf of EXDCI a Round-table which focused on Extreme-scale Demonstrators (EsDs): Exploiting the Potential of European HPC Stakeholders in Extreme-Scale Demonstrators. Later in June at ISC 2017, we held a workshop on Industrial Use of EsDs.
For the SRA3, some face to face meetings with work group leaders took place and also many teleconferences in which all work group members could participate. The SRA 3 is taking shape and is planned to arrive at the first full draft stage at the end of July, with issue and dissemination scheduled for the end of September. We would like to thank the members who are contributing to the shaping of this new roadmap.
Also during the 2nd quarter, we held the first of our two contractual Private-Public Partnership (cPPP) meetings scheduled for 2017 with a Commission delegation headed by M. Thomas Skordas, DG-CNECT director. The discussion focused on the preparation of the 2018-20 Work Programme and the undergoing PPP H2020 mid-term review.
In conclusion, our activity so far this year has been quite fruitful; however, much work is still ahead of us during the remaining half of 2017. We count on the continued support of our members as we strive to deliver solid results through the structure of our Association.
